Hoka- what size?

I’ve heard Hoka come up small, I’m usually a pretty predictable 4, should I go for a 5? (Nowhere near me seems to stock them!)

I always go a size up - but it's because I run in them. Though they don't feel massive on me just a bit of extra room.

SuperMagicHappyForest · 29/03/2026 19:24

You should get them fitted - I wear the Bondi’s I’m a normal size 6 but wear 7.5 in them.

they are amazing shoes.

thatsthatsaidthemayor · 29/03/2026 19:29

Running +1 size. Shoes. Normal.

kljdhs877 · 29/03/2026 19:31

Thanks all, I measured my feet and it’s saying only go up to 4.5 which is making me doubt 5! I don’t have anywhere near me that stocks them unfortunately.

@Idontjetwashthefucker do you have a pair of New Balance 327s by any chance?

I went up a size when trying them on, but ended up getting a different brand, as they have a high instep.

BeaTwix · 29/03/2026 20:12

I went up a size again from my running trainers (which are bigger than my normal shoes).

Be careful though I've had to give up on mine the high cushioned sole gives me back pain. I've googled it and this does seem to be a thing.

So I've gone back to Saucony for running and oncloud for day to day.

madcatters · 29/03/2026 20:23

I’m a 4 but always wear a 5 for running

IceyBisBack · 29/03/2026 21:15

I wear a 5.5 and bought a 5.5. Mine are Gaviota's

Renter2026 · 29/03/2026 21:19

Got ASICS Gel Kayano 32 today, went up 1 size

thepurplepenguin · 29/03/2026 21:41

Hoka are teeny weeny. I'm a UK 5.5, I run in a 6-6.5 depending on the brand. With Hoka I have to size up to a 6.5 for day to day wear and a 7 for running. I couldn't even get my foot in the size 6 Rincon I bought before discovering this issue!

PurpleFlower1983 · 29/03/2026 21:49

I am a definitely size 5 but I bought a 6 in Hoka Bondi 8s and they fit perfectly.

TealReader · 29/03/2026 22:14

I go up a size for running, probably wouldn’t just for day to day use.

kljdhs877 · 29/03/2026 22:18

I’m intrigued what’s with running and bigger sizes? (I’m not a runner!) I’d have thought they’d slip off if too big? (I’m going to be doing lots of long distance walking so wanted something comfortable).

OP posts:
TealReader · 29/03/2026 22:32

It’s standard to go up a size in trainers for running. Feet expand when running, especially when running long distances. Toes constantly hitting the top of the trainers will cause injury.

kljdhs877 · 29/03/2026 22:35

Ahh that makes sense! There definitely won’t be any running in these! I do a sport which has interval running but have special trainers for those.

It’s SO uncomfortable! Even in a wide fitting.

pepperaunt · 30/03/2026 00:17

I’m usually a 4 but had to go up to a 5 in Hokas

WhiteNegroni · 30/03/2026 00:53

DD is UK size 4 but went to try on in the shop and after about six different pairs ended up with Bondi 5.5. They are very comfortable for her. It’s really hard buying trainers remotely 🙁
