Mother of the bride outfit ideas for early June, size 20

Any advice for mother of the bride outfit? Early June. I’m 5’8.5 size 20, thin legs, egg shaped belly from under boobs (thanks menopause) hate stuffy looking outfits with embellishments, I’m dreading trying to find something, I used to love clothes shopping but now I never shop and just wear same combo of jeans and jumper on repeat coz nothing looks nice and is not conducive to my lifestyle, also got a bloody god awful belly to boot, sorry….tall order

First 2 are good lengths, think I prefer bright colours though, I’m wondering about pinks and oranges but I know I definitely prefer stronger colours! I have wandered about something with a cape/scarf type thing, it’s a country wedding/marquee so if sleeveless will need a jacket ?

I do prefer either V neck or slash neck as they suit me, I like the blue JL one with flowers on shoulders, maybe need something a bit brighter and more wedding-y

does the wedding have a colour scheme e.g. for flowers and bridesmaids etc? I think as MOB you need something that's in keeping with the tone of the day.

Do you have a budget? Do you want your arms covered partly/fully? Are you bothering with the whole hat/fascinator thing or avoiding it (I personally would!)? Are you fine with heels? What's your colouring?

I am a similar height & a bit slimmer (16-ish) but do have a belly (menopause & ice cream!). And I find semi-fitted or loose-ish shapes most flattering. They do tend to look less formal than what is expected of a MOB - but I personally wouldn't care too much about that & would just accessorise the heck out of whatever I wore! Great shoes/bag/jewellery go a very long way ...

Out of stock in your size at the mo, but I'd happily wear something cool & in beautiful patterned silk like this. It has a sash belt but it's optional.

This is a pretty silk mix that's really well-reduced, with one left in your size. I am not quite sure if that shape will work though - it depends on how quickly it starts to flare out below the bust in reality.

This kind of shape - an elasticated waist with it being loose-ish above & below - is forgiving of a belly. I like the print too.

One thing make sure you are really happy in what you buy. I am smaller than you, size 20. I ticked all the boxes for my dd's wedding but when I look at the photos I look awful. Don't make my mistake. 🙂

I'm size 22 and at my son's wedding I wore plain pleated Palazzo trousers and a loose sleeveless tunic, with a fabulous brightly coloured knee length tailored jacket, worn open, with a huge hat. That was a winter wedding but you could do a similar thing but with a fantastic long silk jacket or kimono style on top.
