Sun Hat for holidays

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/03/2026 12:41

I'm not a hat wearer but I feel I need one for holidays to keep my face protected and stop me scrunching my eyes up . I don't wear sunglasses but I have those Transition lenses so they darken in sun.

I am not a fan of straw hats ,had them before and I'd smell like a stable .
I don;t know if I'd get away with a visor type so my head was uncovered .
Not a baseball cap fan
Apart from a Fedora is there anything I;m missing ?

Weight / bulk not an issue , I can pack as much as I need .

I picked this up on holiday from a National Trust place. It’s great as the front brim is bigger than the back, so really comfy (kind of a posh version of a visor).

It’s not straw; it’s a thick woven paper stuff, so you won’t smell like a stable 🤣

I have a wide brim bucket style hat which is light and comfortable. Also folds smallish to keep in my bag. Think got from either Amazon or market stall. 🤔

I saw one in Uniqlo , didn't buy it as still early days yet but I think it might fit the bill ?

I am so not a hat person but I think this year I'll need one .

I got a sun hat from Costco weirdly... Its SPF 50+ not quite a fedora, not an American cowboy hat.
It's got an adjustable band to make it fit and not blown off, cost about £15.

If you are going somewhere hot and sunny, the sun will bleach your hat and ruin the colour so keep that in mind before buying something expensive.
