Wide leg linen trousers but fitted on bum/ thigh

I'm looking for some nice linen trousers for summer, i like the idea of wide leg but I need them to be fitted on the bum and thigh in order to be flattering on me so I guess what I'm looking for is more like a bootleg?

I have some ankle length straight leg ones from H&M but they're still too loose on the leg and just make me look bigger than I am.

Has anyone seen anything that would fit the bill? A bargain would be appreciated and just to be more awkward I am tall-ish at 5ft 10 so would need a longer leg length option.

For info, I'm an almost 40yr old size 14-16 but not toned, having yo-yo'd in weight a lot over the years and recently lost weight again to come down from a size 20.

Look at Tu - I love my wide leg linen trousers and they do a longer length - I am a similar (but shorter) size to you.

Perhaps more tailored models could work? Zara and Massimo Dutti is where I would start for more tailored linen trousers, preferring MDs cut and sizing. Good bargains in sales to be had for MD.

I searched 'Flat front wide leg linen trousers' in google, that should get you trousers with a zip front rather than elasticated waist, which you would need to be more fitted IMO.

So i think this is the problem. I dont want a smart trouser (which is what all the more fitted ones seem to be), i want something casual for holidays etc but they all just seem to come with so much fabric in the bum/ thigh.
I suspect that what I want doesn't actually exist unfortunately. Maybe I'll just have to go for a standard wide leg and see if I can have them altered?

Okay, then for want of a better term, I think you need 'older' shops- as in shops with a younger demographic are going fashionable with the added volume.
Lands end looks like they have some possibilities, maybe try La Redoute, Very, Simply Be. The problem is probably going to be finding a longer leg length too

I also find George quite narrow in the hip and thigh as a pear shape, I often have to size up in there so might be worth a look.

Thank you @anon2022anon George came up trumps. Bought these ones that are not too loose but still casual. They are a viscose and linen mix but that will probably be a good thing

No because I dont want them too tight on the waist, I just dont want reams and reams of fabric. I bought my normal size in these and they were great

I'd say longer than average. I'm 5ft 10 (although I have a longer torso so proportionally shorter legs than most people my height) and they're just about long enough. I'm hoping they won't shrink when I wash them
