Philips IPL on fair hair…

Has anyone had success with this on blonde/strawberry blonde, ginger or light brown hair please. I understand they don’t work but am going to be wrong!

Alternatively please recommend something for my bikini line that might work. I’ve tried:

Shaving = spots, even with foam and brand new razor and fast regrowth
Creams = fast regrowth - stubble the following day
Electric razor = no joy at all, bumps, uneven
Waxing = having to grow it and then pain (tried it once, wimped out…)

I love swimming but cannot keep up with the maintenance of my nethers! I am incredibly very hairy with regrowth literally the following day.

I have struggled with literally everything else too and am in the middle of ipl, but have dark hair.

I loved swimming as a child/early teen but stopped going regularly because of this. Last year I got back in to swimming and I now go several times a week. Buying a cossie with shorts was liberating. It is not remotely stylish, but better than razor burn and feeling constantly self-conscious.

Thanks @Clicheinaqashqai I’m starting to think swim shorts or something is the way forward. Any clinics I’ve enquired at say I’m too fair for laser hair removal and I guess the Phillips will be the same. It’s so annoying not being able to go swimming spontaneously!

As someone who loves swimming but doesn’t keep up with grooming down there I’ve started wearing boy shorts over the top of my bikini bottoms and it’s been a revelation. I wish I started doing it sooner as I’ve had many embarrassing moments with my bikini letting hair creep out the sides 🫣. But now there’s no more being self conscious about it.

For IPL, it’s the root of your hair that matters. If it’s blonde then it won’t work. It’s very unlikely to work on ginger/strawberry blonde.

I have loads of dark body hair and thanks to perimenopause am growing a full bloody beard. Mixed in with the giant black beard hairs are a few blonde and red beard hairs. The dark ones respond really well to my Philips lumea: the light ones do not. It really just doesn't work on them.
