Is Roka my only option?

So I’ve just sold my small roka “loud” striped bag on vinted and now I’m left lugging a canvas bag for life around. Bad planning on my part…I have a lovely small, grey leather cross body when I need to be smart but for work (absolutely not smart!), going to shops, popping to gym (so headphones and water), I just need a small, practical bag.

is Roka the only option? I did try my mum’s Kanken before I got my Roka but didn’t find it comfy.

Happy to spend up to £100 and like colour.

Uniqlo? I do use their small cross body bags and you can fit in more than you think, good range of colours, very casual. They do other ones though if you want something a bit bigger.

That’s a good shout thanks. I’m nowhere near one unfortunately, living in the NE, what is their return policy like?

However, I am venturing south in a few weeks and I’ve just had a look on the website and there is one where I am staying so I could have a mooch (and pick up some other stuff I’ve had my eye on 😬).

Ooh I second the Uniqlo cross body bags, they are so versatile and definitely bigger on the inside. My dd, dm and I all have them.

I love my Uniqlo one too. They can fit in so much and are super comfy to wear. I saw a post on insta where a woman went away for the weekend to Italy taking only that bag! (Obviously she packed very ‘light’) . They come in lots of fabrics and colours too.

Looks like a trip to Uniqlo it is then! Thank you ☺️.

(side note: I wish we had more options up here in the NE though. I used to live in the NW and it is so much better equipped with shops than here. Once you are north of York, retailers think you are fine with shopping online and actually, sometimes you just want feel and see options in your hands. It’s so frustrating. Rant over.)

I feel you. But Uniqlo are opening a branch in Leeds this year. Not as easterly as I’d like, but better than York.

@hmmnotreallysure @beasmithwentworth, is this the Uniqlo bag you recommend? Thanks!

Hopefully. It's been looking like its nearly ready for months but it seems like every time I walk passed they've added another 3 months to the posters.

OP what about Kipling? Often have shops at outlet malls.

Yes this is the one! I have a corduroy one . They are so handy

Lovemycat2023 · 25/03/2026 15:32

I have the Uniqlo bag in navy and in orange cord, and they are great for gym and shopping trips. For days out and work I have a small Roka as the Uniqlo bags (a) don’t hold quite enough and (b) there aren’t any zip pockets or dividers.

hmmnotreallysure · 25/03/2026 16:17

yes @MadameSapphirethat’s the one! Love the grey! I originally bought mine for a trip to London as I wanted something lightweight and secure and just never went back to using my old bag!
