Interviews...just time for a quick trip to Uniqlo

After a year working at home permanently in my scruff, I've suddenly got two interviews to attend. Both in 'cool' places - think tank/charity types - one in London, one in Manchester.

I'm a frizzy haired menopausal women carrying about two stone more than I really need. I'm also 5ft9, so often feel like Hagrid is my style twin. Oh, and I'm probably 20 years older than everyone who works in these places.

I've got about an hour tomorrow to buy something to wear. I know that Uniqlo has served me well in the past, so I'm hoping for suggestions of an outfit I could grab from there that would do the trick. (Also - what shoes does one wear these days? I have no clue)

Ideas much appreciated. If it helps, big boobs, big arse, ok waist...thick ankles.

Will you have time to go to a hairdresser / do your hair at home before the interviews? (Presumably they’re not actually both tomorrow?)

The Uniqlo : C linen collection comes out on Thursday. One of those waistcoats with the non-linen jacket and easy (think they’re called) wide trousers should be a comfortable but smart outfit. The alternative is the long sleeved dress - whichever suits you and your budget best.

I do think it’s a mistake to begin this process with the determined conviction that you’ll be an outsider. If they’ve called you for interview they must think you’re brilliant - why not focus on that?

Oh thank you..that Uniqlo C stuff looks really nice. I did have a wander round today and bought two pairs of wide legged trousers (black and grey/green) and a green crew necked cardigan top from M&S, plus a couple of tops from Uniqlo - a red sleevess blouse and a pointelle skipper top. I'll try them all on again tonight to work out what to wear for the first interview.

Still no clue what to put on my feet. My legs and feet are horrible - blotchy and fat - so I hate it when boots aren't an option!
