Bridesmaid dress ideas for size 16 with very large bust on £100 budget

My best friend is getting married and there's four of us that she's asked to be a bridesmaid. We ordered dresses last year (wedding is in 6 weeks) and everyone seemed happy with the choice. The bride bought four multi-way ones in different colours. It was now transpired that one bridesmaid doesn't fit into her dress, as she has very large breasts, but hasn't offered any other ideas. Does anyone have any recommendations for dresses to suit a size 16 woman with very large breasts (34J) I don't think we have enough time or budget to have anything specially made. Budget is around £100. Any help would be really appreciated!

What's the colour scheme? Are you all getting new dresses or just her, so is it specifically her body it needs to fit or a few different shapes?

Sometimes with the any way dresses you can add a lace modesty top underneath if there is stretch

I think we're at such a late stage now that any bridesmaid dress will be fine, we'll all just keep the dresses we've got as they're different colours anyway- navy, dark green and purple. The bridesmaid without a dress was originally meant to be wearing a rust/ orange dress, but any other colour at this point will be fine. It's a very laid back wedding!

Not enough stretch unfortunately. I think the dress just clings to the wrong areas everywhere, she just wants an entirely different dress. Thanks for the idea though.

We tried the Ever Pretty one, no joy. Thanks for the suggestions- love the Rewritten one, a wrap dress is a great shout.

I think empire line /wrap dress works well for a big bust

I have this Ghost Madison dress in a cobalt blue that I haven't got around to selling yet. It's a 16 (XL) and I was a 36JJ when I wore it so it would certainly fit. I could put it on Vinted/eBay and send a link.

I actually have several others that could be suitable, all size 16 to fit a J cup, including one which is burnt orange and one is emerald green. If she's interested I'm happy to be put directly in touch with her (I'm in London, if she's local and wants to try stuff). I wasn't planning to sell them all, but I know how hard it is to find formal dresses that fit so am happy to try and help!

Have a look at Scarlett and Jo dresses

Empire line is the worst option for a big bust because you end up with the "waist" seam on your breasts instead of below them.

That's so nice of you! I ordered a wrap dress from Vinted but would you mind if I PM you if it doesn't fit? X

Yes sure!

I am big busted and often look at wrap dresses (proper ones, not the faux wrap) but to wear one and it to fit properly over my boobs, the dress would need to be double my usual size! Also they don't always fit my boobs properly and I look like a sack of potatoes tied up!!

Be cautious with wrap dresses! Definitely needs trying on. Empire line is nice. Nothing high necked, it will just make her boobs look even bigger. V neck is good for a bigger bust.

That's really useful. I've ordered my friend a 16/18 wrap dress, but to be honest, she only wears a size 12 trousers. It's great to have an insight into this, as I have a completely different body type. Not entirely confident about my Vinted purchase now 🤣

I'm a similar size to this and have found the Jolie moi dresses fit very well and are super flattering. Good prices too.

Doseofreality · 24/03/2026 21:57

Slightly over budget but I’m wondering if a maternity dress will provide the bust space needed :

I've had luck with Pretty Dress company and I'm, shall we say, generously endowed. Lots of styles on there.
