Jacket and shoes confusion!

I need help Mumsnet. I'm wearing a dress from Hobbs to a wedding in a couple of weeks. The weather is not forecast to be too warm and we will be arriving on public transport (including changing bus/train) with some walking between ceremony and reception. I really can't work out what kind of colour of jacket to wear or what colour shoes. My budget is flexible. I'm a size 16-18 with v big boobs. Shoes wise I can't wear anything slingback and I need to be able to wear nude tights so ideally closed toed plus low-mid heels for walking. Any suggestions?

Colour isn’t the issue with outerwear here - the difficulty is that pretty much any covering will fatally and irreparably ruin the ‘sleeves’ of your frock.

Also, travel in trainers or whatever you usually wear. Carry your event shoes.

I know it’s much too late to ask this but is it absolutely impossible for you to travel the day before and stay overnight?

Thanks. staying overnight is not an option. I ideally didn't want to wear trainers on the way there as that then means another bag to carry and wanted to look put together from the start but I will consider it.

This sounds a bit mad, but could you find a cape rather than a coat with sleeves? Or a shawl of some sort? Actual coat sleeves will ruin the dress sleeves.
