What to wear

Off to a Michelin star restaurant next month and I haven’t got a clue what to wear.

I’m 50, in decent shape and a size 8-10. I live in dungarees. I’m not a ‘smartly’ dressed person as such and tend to to avoid the High Street. I like flared trousers/jeans with fitted tops and chunky boots or Doc Martens. I’m not sure how else to describe me! Help me! How smart is a restaurant of this type?!

Don’t worry, you won’t need to be super smart. I’d go flared or wide leg trousers, nice top, and maybe chunky loafer or sandal, or ballet flat style shoes rather than big boots

You don't need to dress up. Some people will be all shiny, especially if they're in a celebration party, but Michelin restaurants also have regulars who show up in regular clothes 🙂 Agree with @Ophir above, except I don't see why you shouldn't wear your Docs.

Be clean. Brush your hair. Bon appetit!

Btw, this is one of things I like about us British. Many other countries do have 'rules' about what to wear for certain venues and occasions but, unless a dress code is stated, we can suit ourselves as long as we're reasonably tidy.

I wear very boring clinical scrubs everyday at work so even a trip to the pub is an excuse for me to wear something nice.
I wouldnt wear docs to the restaurant. Maybe some nice shoes, wide leg trousers, attractive top? Make the most of your lovely figure while you still can 😘

Thanks everyone.
I will be clean and shiny!😊
Wide legged trousers and a nice top it is - shoes decided when I know what the weather is doing. Rather excited!
