After my epic fail with the wallpaper dress last week are these OK for the wedding I am attending 🙂

The second one would be perfect.

cramptramp · 18/03/2026 11:06

I didn’t see your last post but I think both of these are very nice, and suitable for a wedding.

MissPrismsMistake · 18/03/2026 11:45

Beats me why anyone would choose either of those brands, and the dresses aren’t to my taste, but they’re both perfectly suitable.

Overtheatlantic · 18/03/2026 12:04

Style and Beauty until very recently were very nice and supportive threads. Now, the threads fill up with quite cutting remarks.

RaraRachael · 18/03/2026 12:05

I like them both @Travelcrazy and I also liked the previous one you posted. All much nicer and "weddingy" than the shapeless monstrosities that were deemed current and fashionable by other posters.

As for not being seen dead in certain brands, if I see someone in a dress I've no idea what brand it is and I'm sure nobody else will.

Ignore all the Hobbs snobbery on here. Most of us don't have £200 odd to splash on dresses.

DramaAlpaca · 18/03/2026 12:06

Both are suitable for a wedding.

MissPrismsMistake · 18/03/2026 12:13

What is a ‘Hobbs snob’?

Someone who likes Hobbs, or someone who doesn’t?

millypeggyandpandora · 18/03/2026 12:15

I was thinking the same thing ! Is Hobbs in or out ?

RaraRachael · 18/03/2026 12:44

Very often someone will ask for an idea and the response is "Have you seen this in Hobbs?". Usually something that costs far more than anyone I know could afford to spend on a dress.
To me there are a lot of people who suggest Hobbs rather than more realistically priced brands and come across as looking down on people who don't buy stuff there.

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 18/03/2026 13:01

the first is definitely appropriate but I personally prefer the flower-pattern of the second dress. The first one isn’t my cup of tea tbh.

Is it a religious ceremony? the asymmetrical neckline / off-shoulder might not be appropriate for some venues…

Travelcrazy · 18/03/2026 13:20

Thanks for the replies, no not religious its a swanky hotel wedding.

ihatecatlitter · 18/03/2026 13:23

I think the second one is more weddingy but either would be good. And yes, some people on here are really horrible. No-one asked if you LIKE the dress, just whether it’s suitable. 2 entirely different things.

Both are appropriate in that case.

which one do you prefer? I’d pick that one (or the one you feel more comfortable in).

Travelcrazy · 18/03/2026 13:58

@PumpkinsAndCoconuts I like them both, I suppose I should choose whichever is easier to style because I always struggle with that or maybe order both and see which is the nicer fabric and fits best

Both suitable although personally I much prefer the first one
