Hi, Attached photo is a look I’m thinking of adopting. Any other suggestions as to what may suit me?

I think your dress would look better with tights or leggings, would look good with the boots.

Somethingsnapped · 14/03/2026 18:51

How do you feel about things tucked in? I'm thinking an oversized/drapey blouse tucked into jeans., and kind of pulled at/loosened a bit, so some material hangs over the waistbamd slightly. But wear tights rather than jeans under the dress. That would work better.

ICanLiveWithIt · 14/03/2026 18:56

Colour wise, I think you'd suit brown, greens, burgundy more than black. The cardie is a lovely colour on you

The dress would look better with tights and boots. The cardie is ending at your widest point, which isn't flattering to anyone. A cropped jacket or cardie which finished at your waist would look better. Or wear a belt round your waist and a longline cardie that was the same length as the dress. Basically find your narrowist point and draw attention to it.

Your bracelets are lovely, add a more obvious necklace. Your hair is lovely

I had thought the word meh had fallen out of use, but it’s what sprang to mind looking at this photo. It just makes you invisible - when you could look amazing. It’s not fashionable, it’s not cool, it’s not smart casual, it’s not fun, or glamorous, or interestingly vintage, or anything.

Your hair and jewellery are lovely.

You want stronger colours and more intentional shapes. And at least one lovely / interesting fabric. And at the very least, a fashionable bag and footwear.

TheDayBeforeYouCame · 14/03/2026 19:37

Why are you thinking of adopting this look? What do you like about it? Where would you wear it?

mynameiscalypso · 14/03/2026 19:38

I’m very confused about the dress + jeans combo. Is that a thing these days? It looks like two different outfits.

PistachioTiramisu · 14/03/2026 19:42

Shoulder bags are very unflattering as they drag your shoulder down. Try hand held, clutch or basket.

I wondered if the photo was AI. When I saw the wording, I wondered if it was somebody who is male, asking ChatGPT to imagine them as a female and described the outfit they hoped to wear as a trans women.

I might be wayyyyyyyy off though

SixtySomething · 14/03/2026 19:56

But the outfit does look very comfortable and I feel like I would be happy to go up to you and talk to you. So that’s one good thing - you look friendly and natural in that get up and not everyone does look natural. So , if that’s your look, feel free to stick to it.

AsparagusSeason · 14/03/2026 20:00

Can you give us some background? Is it you? And it’s not really a ‘look’. Do you like dresses with jeans or could you consider something else?

SurpriseSparDay · 14/03/2026 20:02

@Unicorns- I did think the OP strangely worded …

Who knows why people post here? There are several S&B threads currently running that may not be quite what they seem to be.

🤷‍♀️

(Dress + trousers is a fashionable option. But both parts need to look strong and intentional. Whether vintage Givenchy or this month’s Zara.)

This outfit:

Or this:

Or this:

Are all just as easy to wear as the clothes in the photo - but they have more presence, and look completely contemporary.

sunsetsites · 14/03/2026 20:02

This look doesn’t suit anyone. Baggy jeans with no structures combined with a long shapeless dress and a cardigan hitting at a weird point, plus the men’s formal shoes. I’ve never seen an outfit look more confused.

I seen this too. It’s like male legs, face and hands with a dress photoshopped on.

I did wonder if it’s a man with photoshop.

sunsetsites · 14/03/2026 20:11

Either way OP, if this is what you plan to wear to look more feminine it wouldn’t achieve that and would need seriously reworked.

ChinaPlates · 14/03/2026 20:20

The dress and cardigan look fine in a sort of unnoticeable inoffensive way and the bag is the same length as the cardigan so that’s a good thing. The jeans are too big and the boots are rather cumbersome and neither go with the rest.
