Had a marvellous facial today - how frequently should I have them

it wasn’t anything fancy just an Elemis one as part of a spa day but my skin looks and feels so good and the neck and shoulder massage was heaven.

i have never been in a financial position to have regular beauty treatments or expensive skin care and in fact my cabinet is full of Inkey List bought from TKMaxx 🤦🏼‍♀️ but now I’d like to make more effort.

it’s a bit like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted as I am 56 however I don’t think my skin is too bad yet!

I just don’t know whether say once a month is enough or if I should start purchasing the products and doing it myself weekly although there is no way I would do it the same as they do in a beauty salon!!

thank you ☺️

oh that sounds lovely. what was the facial called?

BruFord · 14/03/2026 02:49

I have them every two months if possible, it does make a huge difference to my skin.

SheilaFentiman · 14/03/2026 06:53

Inkey List is a good brand! I think the key is consistency- I used to moisturise when I remembered 😀 but now I’m much more in the habit of doing it every day and it’s making a difference (I’m a bit younger than you but not much!)

I love a good facial! Posting to find out the answer, sorry

People who say do it yourself miss the whole point of a facial

user593 · 14/03/2026 06:56

I go every six weeks. I asked my beautician how often I should have them and she said just however much you can afford. She said some people get them every two weeks, others every three months, so I decided to land somewhere in the middle!

I have monthly hydradacials and dermaplaning. My skin has really loved it.

I have a spa day twice a year and always have a facial then, the difference it makes to my skin is incredible and I always wonder why I don’t do it more often. Your post has reminded me to get one booked in locally. I can probably only afford one every two months but I’m sure that will make a massive difference.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 14/03/2026 07:09

Every 4-6 weeks is the optimal time.

TheChosenTwo · 14/03/2026 07:16

I used to get one monthly before covid and I never went back after that. Don’t know why, I used to really enjoy it, lying down being pampered on a heated bed with a heated blanket on me, having a bit of a natter with the facialist.
with regards to what my skin felt and looked like, I’ve no idea if it actually made my skin ‘better’ but the whole experience was very lovely and I used to leave feeling so relaxed which is worth it on its own for me!

It was the Elemis Expert Touch Renew Facial. Absolute bliss and I can really see a difference!

I’ll continue with Inkey if it’s ok in that case @SheilaFentiman- wasn’t even sure it’s good for “my age” but my skin likes it!

4-6 weeks is doable especially now I cut down on wine hugely 😉😆

thanks everyone ☺️☺️
