What is your budget?

tealandteal · 10/03/2026 22:51

I can recommend an every night moisturiser. Nip + Fab ceramide moisturiser is so hydrating but has also really helped calm my skin down which was reacting to everything and it feels so lovely and plump. I use their lightweight moisturiser in the day as my skin is also shiny but you might prefer something richer.

similar skin, just turned 50 and been using Neutrogena hydro boost gel last few days, it is incredible! I usually slather on oils as my skin is so dry, but this is really good. Cheap, lots of great reviews :-)

Cerave pm moisturiser and also the hyaluronic acid serum. I’ve been using on repeat for about 3 years now. Buy when on offer in Boots!

Swimmingatdawn · 10/03/2026 22:57

Waitrose Pure day cream. Absolutely brilliant and it costs £3.50. I've not found anything better.

notthatoldchestnut · 10/03/2026 22:57

I use olay regenerist spf 30 and it’s good. Ive used it for 20+ years! Usually around £15-17 a bottle on offer.

GripGetter · 10/03/2026 22:58

Olay Beauty Fluid Sensitive. 30 years on, if I ever stray (rare) I always go back to it.

saycheeese · 10/03/2026 23:02

Cerave moisturiser, used it for years now it's my go to. The ordinary do one that's quite good too and good value for money.

Lou1984 · 10/03/2026 23:06

Over the years I’ve spent so much on moisturisers but have recently switched to Aveeno Calm & Restore (with spf 50) which is about £10 a bottle after a recommendation on here and can honestly say it feels as good as any £30+ moisturiser I’ve used in the past. I've got dry sensitive skin.

gws1 · 10/03/2026 23:07

Kiehls I swear by it, lasts ages and super hydrating!

Empress13 · 10/03/2026 23:20

a cheap budget one which is good is the Lacura Cavier moisturiser around £5 I think

confusedlots · 10/03/2026 23:21

I’ve recently discovered Asda’s Tiger Moon range. The vitamin C moisturiser is fab and only £4.

Hi OP. For dry, sensitive mature skin, you want to look for moisturizers with ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids which actually repair your barrier rather than just sitting on top, plus humectants like glycerin or hyaluronic acid to pull water into your skin. Niacinamide is amazing for mature skin because it strengthens your barrier and reduces redness, and squalane or panthenol are great for adding moisture without irritation. Avoid anything with fragrance, essential oils, or a ton of plant extracts since sensitive skin reacts to those, and look for creams rather than lotions since you need that richer texture for dryness. The good news is you absolutely don't need to spend a fortune, I actually recommend checking out drugstore products because many of them have really solid formulations with effective concentrations of actives at affordable prices. Hope this helps!

@1emma19 , I've literally just read this thread and your reply .. are there any in particular that you recommend as I am in same boat as OP. I'm alternating between LRP Cicoplast at night (as Dermatica suggested an emollient), and Marks night cream but I really need something with more active ingredients than my Caudalie Reservatrol Lift for daytime. I have no idea where to start!!! Thank you!

Noshadelamp · 11/03/2026 00:57

I have the Inkey List Ceramide Moisturiser, it's always on offer somewhere for around £15

I also like Cerave moisturising lotion, I use it like a serum, and Q&A peptides serum.

Mossstitch · 11/03/2026 01:08

Sensitive, allergy prone skin here..........I use lavera organic all in one cream, comes in a tin like boot polish for about £9 but lasts for months.

WednesdaysChild73 · 11/03/2026 02:51

Nivea Creme, in the blue round tub

CloseEncountersOfTheLoveKind · 11/03/2026 03:15

Organic coconut oil… can use it to shallow fry with too.
I also like to use on my skin, what I’d be happy to put in my mouth.
your skin is your biggest organ, so whatever you put on it, is absorbed into your bloodstream.
No doubt I’ll get slammed for suggesting, Lol!

Tonissister · 11/03/2026 03:22

Nivea Q10. I used the day cream for years but recently switched to the vitaminC boost one as it makes my skin look less grey in winter.
I'm early sixties with dry, sensitive skin.
When I try other moisturisers if this is out of stock, my skin always ages so I go back to this.

No it doesn’t!

Your skin is a literal barrier

falalalaa · 11/03/2026 05:31

I would make sure whatever cream you have has spf, or are wearing it over or you’ll look like a walnut in a few years.
