Anyone know anything about silk? Or skirts? Or BOTH?!

One summer in france i bought this amazing double sided Indian wrap skirt. You've probably seen them around, sometimes they say theyre made from recycled saris. I loved this skirt and then in a move, I lost it. I know it said 100% silk on its little label but ive never been able to find the same feel since!
All other ones ive seen have this kind of slippery/shiny/dense feeling to the fabric. But this material felt almost gauzy, it had a floaty quality rather than a watery texture.
Are there two different types of silk or something??!

It sounds as if your skirt may have been made from silk chiffon. Silk can be woven into different weights of fabric from tulle, chiffon and organza to satin, brocade and velvet and variations in between.

Yes, silk is the fibre, but it can come in different weights and weaves.

I have a few of those skirts. One is definitely silk, the others are not. Silk feels much, much finer that other types of cloth.

Silk can be very coarse as well.

I’d second chiffon or maybe organza. Habotai is very lightweight too.
