Can anyone recommend a good one? I bought a Clarins one at the airport recently and it's so greasy 😒

I use Cera Ve spf50. Totally non greasy

TricksyLiesmith · 09/03/2026 21:20

Another vote for la Roche posay

LilyLemonade · 09/03/2026 21:21

I like Vichy capital soleil or Eucerin oil control.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 09/03/2026 21:33

Another vote for Beauty of Joseon.

I'm currently using the Round Lab Birch Juice sunscreen which feels very light and not at all greasy. I have quite sensitive skin and it doesn't irritate either.
My usual go to is the Ambre Solaire fluids as they are quite runny and so also not greasy and good under makeup https://www.boots.com/ambre-solaire-ultra-light-sensitive-face-fluid-spf50plus-40ml-10274049

The greasy feeling usually comes from sunscreens with heavy emollients or too much mineral oil in the base, so you want to look for something formulated with lightweight silicones like cyclopentasiloxane or dimethicone high on the ingredient list, which absorb quickly and don't leave that oily residue. Look for products labeled "dry touch," "invisible," or "ultra-light" because those usually contain those mattifying silicas that absorb oil throughout the day. Avoid anything with coconut oil, shea butter, or heavy plant oils high on the ingredient list since those will leave you greasy. If you've got normal to oily skin, gel or fluid formulations work way better than cream textures.

Another vote for bondi sands. No white cast, non greasy, affordable.

Ohnobackagain · 09/03/2026 22:43

@zurigo the Trinny London one “See the Light”

florenceandthemac · 09/03/2026 23:22

I’m loving the Zara SPF50 primer stick

I love Altruist moisturiser SPF 50. Fabulous and so inexpensive.

My dermatologist (who I see for melanoma) recommends this.

Kaftanqween · 10/03/2026 01:04

The beauty pie one is great. Very good value and a great primer too

newbie202020 · 10/03/2026 08:03

Beauty Pie SPF 50 is good, it's like a primer

zurigo · 10/03/2026 08:05

Wow! Thank you so much for all these recommendations. I'm now spoilt for choice 😁

Another La Roche Posay vote

NeedANewOne25 · 10/03/2026 09:05

Biore UV Watery Essence and the Beauty Pie ones are the best I have found.

AllSlippersareBanned · 10/03/2026 09:08

My daily moisturiser is Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF 50, it’s the best I’ve found.

NorthIsBestforBeaches · 11/03/2026 09:07

You need to look carefully at the ingredients in all sun screens. Many are chemical which has some bad press, (absorption into the body) and mineral screens are better. Also check they filter out UVA and UVB and have a good star rating.

I prefer Ultrasun because they seem pharma grade, or LRP.

Summerhillsquare · 11/03/2026 09:15

Skin Technology. Kiwi stuff is the best. They also make insect repellent.

Hmmmmwineandchocs · 11/03/2026 09:34

Those recommending Beauty of Joseon, which one do you use? The relief sun or relief sun aqua fresh?

CortieTat · 11/03/2026 09:48

Unfortunately it’s very difficult to find a mineral sunscreen that is not greasy and doesn’t leave any white cast. All recommended ones are chemical sunscreens and I don’t use them for health and environmental reasons. I also don’t want to reapply the sunscreen many times during a day and the chemical ones need to be reapplied often to work, they work by breaking down and absorbing the UV light in the process.

The one that works for me and is 100% mineral is Sol de Janeiro Rio Radiance Body Lotion. I use it on my face under makeup and it’s the only mineral sunscreen I’ve tried that doesn’t leave a white cast and it’s relatively non-greasy, it also works mixed with foundation or a tinted moisturizer. The only problem is the strong fragrance, but I can live with that.

I was a fan of La Roche until I found SKIN1004 - Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum. It's so much lighter and totally non-greasy.
