Do you use shaving gel to shave your legs ?

I use a disposable razor. I put a foam body wash on my legs while in the bath then shave under the water.

I've never brought ladies shaving gel. Does anyone ?

I have a cheap men's face shaver I use for my legs and pits. Couldnt be arsed with all the faff and waste with disposable razors etc anymore

This actually sounds brilliant as I always cut myself. What one do you use please?

Same. I just run the razor over whilst I’m in the shower. Not got very hairy legs btw

My legs are wincing at the thought of pulling a razor over them with just shower water!

They don't cut, they pull the hair from the root like waxing. I find they don't leave legs completely smooth as I always seem to have hairs which are too short to be caught. I also get quite bad ingrown hairs from waxing and epilating and I have given up on fighting them. My epilator is gathering dust in a drawer now that I have been converted to an IPL device, but the effectiveness of these does depend on your skin tone and hair colour.

Ahh I see. I was in my teens when I had one so couldn't remember at all lol. Ooh the IPL device is intriguing. Im white as a ghost with dark brown hair, would it work on me?

Yes, that's the perfect combination - very pale skin with dark hair.

I need a review!
Which one do you use?
How long does each go of your legs take?
How long before you noticed a difference?

I’ve always been so intrigued and I’ve ever been able to bite the bullet!

mustwashmycurtains · 09/03/2026 15:58

Yea I use it. Lasts about a year so I don’t resent the cost. It’s a bit less drying than soap/gel and weirdly it’s a bit more fun 😬

when it runs out I use up any cheap conditioner or travel size toiletries

igelkott2026 · 09/03/2026 17:32

Yes I buy Superdrug own as it's cheap. But I have also used shower gel or conditioner as well.

I've used an epilator for years. Hardly any hair grows back now.

This. 💯

wandawaves · 10/03/2026 09:56

Yes I started using shaving gel a couple of years ago, after pinching some of my son's, and realising how much better it is than using shower gel!

Never heard of the cheap hair conditioner trick though, i imagine it'd be much cheaper than shaving gel too.

Floofle · 10/03/2026 10:21

Huh... I just lather up my hair (with shampoo) then scoop some of the foam onto my legs and shave with that... then wash everything off

Catcatcatcatcat · 10/03/2026 10:22

I use men’s shaving gel which is of course half the price of women’s 😡

I think its a wahls one, it was about a tenner and has lasted me over 2 years at this point. I think any of them would do tbh

I use conditioner to shave my legs. A tip I got off someone about 30 years ago and I've done it since

Same! Leaves the skin so much smoother and smells nicer too.

Smells like lynx though!!

dementedpixie · 11/03/2026 15:38

I use cheap shaving gel (often mens as its cheaper) and shave in the shower. I fill a plastic cup with water and switch the shower off while I shave, using the cup of water to rinse the razor (i like the olay ones)
