Do you use shaving gel to shave your legs ?

I use a disposable razor. I put a foam body wash on my legs while in the bath then shave under the water.

I've never brought ladies shaving gel. Does anyone ?

I've used an epilator for years. Hardly any hair grows back now.

I have a cheap men's face shaver I use for my legs and pits. Couldnt be arsed with all the faff and waste with disposable razors etc anymore

ladygindiva · 08/03/2026 19:41

I use conditioner to shave my legs. A tip I got off someone about 30 years ago and I've done it since

Chinsupmeloves · 08/03/2026 19:42

No, don't even bother without any gel now, just soap!

smallsilvercloud · 08/03/2026 19:42

Ive tried it but never found it necessary, just soap or shower gel works fine. A moisture strip on the blade helps it glide.

Shinyandnew1 · 08/03/2026 19:43

No need, soap works fine.

honeyfox · 08/03/2026 19:43

Yes, but I just buy Lidl's best. Wouldn't spend major money on it.

LasVegass · 08/03/2026 19:44

Yes, I use DH’s gel.

SwedishEdith · 08/03/2026 19:44

Just use a bar of soap. I presume that's what traditional barbers used when they used to lather up the shaving brush.

worldshottestmom · 08/03/2026 19:44

I normally use a disposable mens razor in the shower, but found that without any gel in winter my legs had goosebumps which caused the razor to make them bleed (ouch). Started using womens Razors (pink Gillette or Wilkinsons, whichever is cheapest) with co-op aloe Vera shaving gel and it works a treat! So smooth and silky, can't beat the feeling.

Shaving foam or gel yes. Sainsburys or boots women’s own brand.

I used to use one of these way back. Do they cut very close to the grain? Do you get any remaining stubble? Was thinking of getting one recently but couldn't remember how good they were. I remember the one I had really bloody hurt.

I shave my legs so rarely that the Estrid shave cream I bought during lockdown is still going Grin

chinacrisisofcupkind · 08/03/2026 19:47

Just soap here or occasionally foam in then bath. It does feel nicer with foam

FurForksSake · 08/03/2026 19:47

Why do you ask? Use it if you want, don’t use it if you don’t want to. I’m intrigued what made you ask the question?

I’m confused why put anything on them if you’re then putting your legs under the water!

Does this really work? It's so simple. Why aren't we all doing it?!

Same here.

Cheapest conditioner, slather some on your legs and shave. Lovely and smooth afterwards

I always see it in the shop and think
' who buys this'
'should I be using this too' '
'am I the only lady in the world who doesn't use it'
' is it a waste'

I use it.

did use soap but my legs were absolutely red raw afterwards.

donotmissyourchancetoblow · 08/03/2026 20:32

I either use soap or hair conditioner. I have used shaving foam previously but I didn’t notice any massive difference so just use what I have instead of buying yet another product

falalalalalalalallama · 08/03/2026 20:32

I use soap, works fine.

Or at least I did last summer, haven't shaved my legs since, and won't be till it's legs-out weather.

03cg73 · 08/03/2026 20:33

I use the first bottle/bar of soap that comes to hand. Conditioner, shampoo, shower gel. It all serves the same purpose for leg shaving to me 😂

Notmymarmosets · 08/03/2026 20:36

I shave in the shower with a mens bic razor and just the shower water. I change the razor maybe once a quarter. I am a cheap date.

sleeppleasesoon · 08/03/2026 20:37

Nope.

As someone else posted upthread, I use hair conditioner.

Not keen on buying another product to clutter my bathroom and it works well.
