Is this dress dated?

I have previously done a bit wardrobe clear out but I still feel like I only wear probably 40% of my clothes.

but I am starting to doubt my taste and judgment. For example, this Whistles dress - the bright red suits me - but I have never worn it. What do you think? Photo is not of me but i have a similar figure although short!

Is this dress dated?

Why don't you wear it? Do you love it, does it feel great and does it suit you, does it fit your lifestyle?

Newmeagain · 08/03/2026 13:18

@dudsville i think because for work I tend to wear plainer things and on weekends I tend to wear jeans. If I was going out, I would probably reach for something that felt a bit more “cool”??

maybe I am answering my own question!

personally i find the print overwhelming and ugly. But the shape is pretty.

It's not high fashion but I don't think it looks dated.

I'm in my 50s and would wear it for work or for dinner or theatre, but not for a night out in the pub or seeing a band.

This has been helpful - thank you!

It’s not really dated no, but was never really in fashion, there is another thread with a lady asking about a green one which is really dated and drab, bizzarely people are sayinf it’s stylish, it isn’t, which makes me wonder what they wear. Often on this sub forum people recommend a lot of dated dresses, so I often think seeing pics of the person responding favourite outfit would be a good idea, as ir maybe someone you want to take advice from, and someone you really don’t.

this one is very different, it could be seen as current, but it’s either your thing or it isn’t, I don’t really wear brightly coloured patterns so I’d not wear it, but if you can and do, then I don’t think you need to worry about it being dated,

It's not what you wear, it's the way that you wear it....
If you like it and it suits you, just enjoy it. You'll look fab.

namechangeabc123 · 08/03/2026 14:03

I don’t think it’s dated. It’s really nice. You should wear it!

tsmainsqueeze · 08/03/2026 14:03

It's not my style or choice but i think it's a classic style and shape , i do think it could look better with the top button open.

I know what you mean actually. I have decided that my dress is just not me. I think it would be different if it was the same print in a linen summer dress.

It's a classic shirt dress? Nothing wrong if you still like it

I've been watching old Traitors uncloaked and there was someone with an amazing geo pattern shirt dress in similar colours to yours looked stunning
