What would you wear for a trip to the theatre, followed by cocktails and dinner at a naice restaurant in London? It's a special occasion so I want to be semi dressy, but also comfortable

Size 8-10, straight up and down figure, 5'9". Spanner in works: i need to wear trainers due to a foot injury.

Maybe a silk blouse and some wide leg trousers - I’m thinking a bit fancier (or sparklier) than officewear but you could carry the trainers off.

Which theatre and which bar/restaurant?

I don't want to be the spoilsport 'no one dresses up in London " but my experience is that other than Royal Opera and Royal Ballet where it might be dressier people don't dress up for the theatre in London. Many of the London West end theatres are tiny - you're packed in - no one really notices what you're wearing.

My goal wasn't a desire for other people to notice what I am wearing. I want to dress nice because it is a special occasion for me and the people I'm celebrating with.

By "semi dressy but comfortable with trainers" I wasn't expexting suggestions for full on evening dress, more trousers or smart jeans and a nice top.

The OP said she was going for dinner and cocktails so wants to be dressed for those!

I’m being stalked by these satin and velvet trainers after seeing a link on another thread - they might appeal

I’d probably go with my nicest trainers, dark indigo slim flare jeans and a silky top.

Or if it’s warm enough for bare legs, I’d wear a midi dress and my nicest trainers.
