If you were me, would you wear this Brora cashmere top?

Pics coming.

This Brora cashmere top haunts me - it’s from years ago and was expensive.

I think the issues are:
I’m 5ft 2
My waist is my best feature
The top is long in the body and hits me at the hips - so I look a bit ‘blocky’
There’s too much material to tuck in at the waist without looking bulky

Actually, and I wish I’d noticed this at the time, even on the lithe model they have pinned or tucked some of the length under - see the front view pic.

I’ve had an eBay listing ready for a while but still hesitate, as it’s really so nice. But I never wear it! Gave it a try a month ago and it didn’t do me any favours.

I don’t think there’s a way of safely shortening it.

I wouldn't.

butidid · 07/03/2026 20:07

Can you wear a wide belt over it?

JaneJeffer · 07/03/2026 20:07

I saw a YouTube post the other day where they used some type of clips for things that were too long. Can’t remember what they’re called <helpful>

Doggymummar · 07/03/2026 20:07

I sell Brora on eBay. Yo7 could by something lovely with the £75 to £120 you'll get

disappearingfish · 07/03/2026 20:08

If you don’t love it, let it go! I have sold a large % of my wardrobe on Vinted recently and it’s so liberating.

Catisheavyonmylap · 07/03/2026 20:08

If you never wear it, then it’s time to sell it.

Handeyethingyowl · 07/03/2026 20:08

I really like it but it would look awful on me. If it doesn’t suit you chalk it up to experience and sell on ebay.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 07/03/2026 22:13

Sometimes with knitwear, it's the garment itself: the colour, the hold, the weight and the cosiness that all make it fabulous, even if it makes you look like a sausage!

I think you will be sorry if you let it go

Amiacoolorwarmcolour · 07/03/2026 22:36

I wouldn’t wear it as it’s not my style. Try and sell it.

SpringIsSpringing2026 · 07/03/2026 22:40

Does everything you wear have to accentuate your waist?

you wore it a month ago & didn't enjoy wearing it - sell it.

or keep it to stroke & enjoy🤣

greenrabbit100 · 08/03/2026 08:40

Sell. You don’t enjoy wearing it and having it hanging around just reminds you that it was an expensive mistake.

MsDastardley · 08/03/2026 08:51

I have that in different colour ways and I like it. I am 5’6” and wear it tucked in. Agree is it would be bulky if you are shorter.

@Doggymummar I’m having a wardrobe clear out and have sold quite a bit of my Brora. It’s gone well, I think I may have sold low!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/03/2026 09:00

It’s not my thing but if it was cosy and the colours suited me I’d just wear it loose with jeans and not bother about it being a bit slouchy.

Everlil · 08/03/2026 09:06

Personally I think it looks old fashioned, the sleeve length is awkward and I’m not a fan of the wavy coloured stripes (looks a bit children’s tv presenter).

You haven’t worn it, so I would get rid of it (either sell or donate). Brora sells quite well on Vinted and short sleeved cashmere jumpers go for around £30-40.

EscapadeVelocity · 08/03/2026 09:47

Places I can think of, off the top of my head, that might have something you’ll like more, that works for you:

Damson Madder
Me & Em
La Fetiche
& Daughter
Plümo

(I can never see the attraction of Brora, so sell it with my blessing!)
