Would sandals be good with this?

I bought this dress and love it. I am much bigger than the model but it suits me. Not the best pic of me but you get the idea.

I am not good at wearing heels. I have 1 pair of Dune sandals that I wore for my wedding which I can last a few hours in. But I want to wear something a bit interesting.

Any thoughts? Budget absolutely no more than €200 but preferably much less. The pair I love are €210

I like them in the platinum as well but they aren't real leather

It doesn't immediately say Sandals to me because it's velvet, which is more of a winter fabric to me, although the Eska or something similar would work.

NorWouldTilly · 04/03/2026 12:39

Yes, those sandals would be fine with it. (Haven’t worn Esska myself but they have a strong reputation for being comfortable.) I agree the platinum might be a better match, but it’s not crucial.

The dress is lovely on you.

Dress looks nicer on you than it does on the model - it looks fab! I reckon those sandals would be fine

pontipinemum · 04/03/2026 12:57

Thank you for the compliments 🤗

@NorWouldTilly I prefer the platinum over all and I'm just unsure if they will be as durable since they aren't leather.

I completely understand your hesitation over synthetic shoes - but it’s probably worth the risk of their not lasting forever, to complement the dress.

Or get the black metallic suede and wear them with sheer spotted tights?

pontipinemum · 04/03/2026 13:44

@NorWouldTilly would these be too low? They are leather, probably more likely to be able to wear them for longer. I stopped wearing heels pre covid, then had two babies in 2 years and not sure how much I can handle!

Regardless of the height I will go for platinum. I have a few events this year that I want to wear heels to and the platinum will go with all my dresses.

Sorry if I am coming across a bit needy over a pair of shoes. There is a LOT going on right now and finding clothes that I will look and feel good is making me feel better.

Hmm … They’re less cool, bit more M&S.

Depends what matters most to you at a social event, the best silhouette possible, or being comfortable!

Thanks, I suppose the best balance between both. I think the first ones with a 7cm heel + 2cm platform is the balance between the 2nd ones and proper high heels which I love the look of but know I wouldn't last an hour in!!

I am not striving to look 'young' but I am in my 30s and want to look some what fashionable

I prefer the second shoes.

Dosomethingnow · 04/03/2026 14:15

The shoes you linked to with the lower heel are gorgeous. Don't beat yourself up or feel you need to suffer to hit some mythical cool heel height. Which pair are going to ensure you have a more enjoyable evening?

GreenCandleWax · 05/03/2026 09:25

Do the shoes have to be heels? I think the dress would look good with flat strappy sandals, preferably in silver. I have such a pair - unbelievably they were from Hotter a couple of years ago. They are really versatile for dressing things up.

FlowerFairyDaisy · 05/03/2026 10:07

LOVE both the dress and the shoes. So pretty.

Fabellini · 05/03/2026 10:13

I like the sandals - and I wouldn’t let the fact they’re not leather bother me. I was going to suggest Air & Grace as they do a very similar style, but when I checked they were actually more expensive - however, they do a pointed flat which could work if you decided against a heel altogether…

The first ones are so much better than the second pair, which are really giving me granny vibes. I think because of the platform, they'll hardly feel like heels at all. Why not order them and try them?
