Hair Conditioner

Our hair conditioner lasts much longer than shampoo . So it got me thinking and I asked dh if he / does he condition his hair and he doesn't and never has apparently .
If your partner is male does he or if you are male do you ?

Neither my husband or son will use conditioner. The nearest they get is a 2 in 1 shampoo

The fact that you never noticed says something about the benefit of conditioning surely ?

No, DH would never consider using conditioner and neither did I when my hair was as short as his. I do now that my hair is longer, because it stops tangles. Obvious, surely?

Nope

No

No need, as DH’s hair is short. My DS had v long hair till recently and he used conditioner to stop it tangling (well, 2 in 1 head and shoulders anyway) but now he’s had it cut short again there’s no need.

My conditioner to shampoo usage is 2:1, so the opposite to you. But I have very long hair. My partner doesn’t live with me but as far as I know he never uses conditioner, tbh I doubt the thought has ever even occurred to him. But he wouldn’t need it anyway. I guess men with long/er hair may be more likely to use it perhaps, so would assume mostl,y it’s more about length than simply gender.

My DH has curly hair so uses both a conditioning wash and leave in conditioner. Given conditioner is designed for mids and ends and most men have short hair, it makes sense men don't use it on the whole.

Tubbyinthehottub · 02/03/2026 15:30

I thought you are only supposed to put conditioner on anything ponytail length so not necessary for shorter hair usually.

Comefromaway · 02/03/2026 15:31

My son uses conditioner. My husband never has but he started to lose his hair in his late teens and has always had very short hair.

My DH, DS and DSIL compete to see who can find the shower gel with the most purposes, as in body wash, handwash, shampoo, conditioner etc. etc. They very definitely only need one bottle.

Naturally, I keep my own shampoo and conditioner separately.
