Help! I look like a dried out British Bulldog but I need to look like a glamour puss!

Hi. I am putting on a major thing and to it has involved months over severe stress and not really looking after my health. When it opens I will have a full day of press events in a very dry hot room from 7:30 in the morning and the opening event in the evening where I am giving a speech. I’ve seen myself on work social media recently and basically I look like a dehydrated British bulldog. Any tips to help me in the lead up and especially for the opening day and night would be so welcome!

Bring a nice cool water bottle with you

wear clothes you are comfortable in

and smile a lot 😁

i am actually not really sure if you are asking fashion advice or how to stay hydrated during the day?

GoldieLookingBoots · 27/02/2026 22:56

Start using alpha h glycolic acid every other night to prep your skin. Book a trusted makeup artist maybe? Perhaps someone who does wedding makeup that lasts all day

Try and get yourself a blow dry booked in the night before if possible. Lots of water, salmon, avocado and fruit & veg beforehand and a good moisturiser? Maybe buy some new make up.

L’Oréal Glass liquid serum! Honestly this stuff is magic, I recently flew on a 3am flight and put this stuff on and the cabin crew actually commented on how glowy and fresh my skin looked!

Do you have days or weeks until the event?

If weeks:

Your username suggests you may have access to plenty of good food - but, if you need reminding, you do need to start with nutrition. Increase your fruit and vegetable intake (whether weekly veg box or home grown or whatever).

Cut out alcohol completely.

Ideally arrange a course of massages; at least once a week, if not more.

Do some yoga or Pilates - whatever works best for you. It’ll improve your posture and physical resilience so you’ll sleep better, move better and wear clothes better.

You can’t force yourself to sleep, but at least ensure you arrange things so that you can get the best rest possible.

If you only have days

Surely you can influence the conditions in the press room?

In addition to all the good advice from pp above - if possible wear an item of jewellery that will help light up your face. And clothes you feel confident and happy in.

It all sounds tremendous - I hope it goes well for you.

Curious @TheApocalypticiansApprentice what does a course of massages do? Maybe don’t tell me as I have already bought too many cosmetics this weekend. ;-)

TheApocalypticiansApprentice · 01/03/2026 08:04

Just google ‘benefits of regular massage’, @FedAndWatered.

Puglife1234 · 01/03/2026 08:07

TheApocalypticiansApprentice which jewelry to light your face ? Very interested for suggestions please.
