First date outfits help!

I am back on the dating scene after a number of years out and am a bit of a loss of what to wear on first dates. Generally I am going to wine bars / restaurants in London.

I am 42, a size 10, dark hair and cool, pale skin. I suit jewel tones but there appears to be very few of them around at the moment. I don't really like the oversized look - I would quite like to look sexy, but without too much on display. I like dresses and heels, but I know that really isn't cool anymore. No budget limit as I will hopefully pick up some things I can wear to other occasions.

Any ideas gratefully received!

I would caution against investing much (money, expectation) in first dates. From what I’ve read here they should really only be brief coffee-type meetings - to establish that both parties are actual human beings who vaguely resemble their online personas. (So you’d maybe be in your work clothes at lunchtime.) Half the men seem to turn up drunk or unkempt - if they turn up at all …

It’s only worth putting a huge effort in if you think they’re worth a second, proper date.
