Just be aware that they've now swapped to 'vanity sizing' and everything is at least a size (more like 2!) too big. It's really frustrating!!

Had they not always been generous with sizing?

OSTMusTisNT · 20/02/2026 21:12

I've always found that with FF in the last few years anyway.

springisonthewaysoon · 20/02/2026 21:13

They’ve always been the most generous brand. I have 10-12 there and I’m definitely not a 10 and only a 12 on a good day!

TheBeaTgoeson1 · 20/02/2026 21:29

They are huge! Their 8 would have been a 12 a few years ago.

GreaterCassowary · 21/02/2026 10:05

They've always been like that.

BreakfastOfWaffles · 21/02/2026 10:07

When did you last shop there OP? I agree with others they have been generous for as long as I can remember.

Well that’s a bummer - my favourite velvet dress I bought at Xmas I was delighted to get into a 14 , reality is I’m usually a16 anywhere, sometimes an 18

SabrinaThwaite · 21/02/2026 10:13

It’s always been generous but certain designs are worse than others - I’m usually a 14 in their Breton t-shirt and bought a 14 in a different style t-shirt before Xmas without trying it on - had to swap it for an 8.

Most brands (except for the more exclusive ones) have been vanity sizing for decades. I have clothes I bought in the eighties and a size 10 back then is now a size 6 or 8 depending on the brand. I'm heavier than when I was 18 but apparently I'm now one size smaller than when I weighed 2 stone less...

GlasgowGal2014 · 21/02/2026 10:31

FatFace sizing has always been very generous. I've shopped there for about ten years and often get a 10 in dresses and tops while I am a 12/14 everywhere else!

Gettingbysomehow · 21/02/2026 10:38

I always buy a size 10 in fatface now although Im actually a 12. Its a bit annoying when shops do this because we dont have many shops where I live in Somerset so Im always having to return things I buy online for another size and it takes ages.

Nutmuncher · 21/02/2026 11:40

Aren’t they bigger fitting because they aim for those who like a bit of room? MIL used to be obsessed with buying from there until I made her realise the fit, styles and fabrics tend to look drab and washed out plus they’re incredibly overpriced for a high street chain- her face though when she first saw FF in TK Maxx after paying full price for years was a picture.

Shortpoet · 21/02/2026 12:14

I bought a size 8 cardigan in there last month. In reality I’m a 16-18.
Goodness knows what a size 8 person would look like in it!

Not sure that’s true, I’ve always found their sizing to be wildly inconsistent. I’ve often taken the same “model” of trousers in different colours into the fitting room only for one to fall off and the other to be so tight I can’t do it up.
