Need a shawl/scarf or similar

Im going to a black tie event but its afternoon not evening, I’ve got this dress, what could I wear over it. Ideally something a bit sheer but warm?

Forgot to add that it’s early March, so will be cold

Utterly ridiculous to stipulate a black tie dress code for afternoon.

I’d suggest a cropped fur(ry) cape.
