Under eye concealer choice

I rarely wear foundation. When I do, it's No7 hydraluminous-the lightest one possible. I have started noticing bags under my eyes, so think I need a concealer. But will it look stupid if I use it without foundation?

Also, how do I go about choosing a product? There are so many. Should I just stick to my tried and trusted method of going into Boots and seeing which make up person is free to help me choose from their brand?

If you can go somewhere like Space NK where they represent multiple brands.
Even if you don’t buy there it will give you an idea of what works for you and the shades to shop for

I really love the matching concealer to your foundation. It's hydrating and doesn't settle in my fine lines.

Dorfdeb · 19/02/2026 08:17

I use the Elf hydrating camo concealer - it doesn’t settle in the cracks and provides decent coverage. Like you, I don’t wear heavy foundation and used your foundation for years before moving on to a similar one by Estée Lauder

I swear by Gatineau miracle eye contour cream and regular use of fridge-cold under eye patches. I use the eye cream on its own or under foundation and it’s really lovely brightening cream.

I don't know why my picture or link won't work, but this is the one I love. No7 HydraLuminous Dark Circle Concealer.

Glossier Stretch concealer is fab.

I live by rimmel lasting radiance or the maybelline anti age one but when I can afford it Nars looks like I’ve had the best sleep of my life! I always use cerave eye cream underneath though, it works as a primer for me as I have extremely dry skin. Have used all without foundation and think it looks fine!

After years of using Touche Eclat and in all honesty, never finding it that great, I'm now using Trinny BFF eye serum. It's coverage as well as serum and I'll use it on its own. I find it really good.

Oh and Lancôme Teint Idol care & wear concealer is amazing if you want slightly better coverage but not heavy or cakey.

TerrysCIockworkOrange · 19/02/2026 22:14

I swear by Bobbi Brown creamy corrector. It makes my dark shadows vanish!

MrsAppleron · 19/02/2026 22:15

I use the Gatineau miracle eye contour cream, its good, but not what i had hoped, i think i need to do other things to reduce the puffiness prior to application

Edited

which cerave eye cream do you use please @Morepositivemum ? I just looked and there are two, one for dark circles and one for anti-ageing

Thank you for your honesty. This is my concern, that I spend on something which doesn't do what I want it to do.

Smoll
cerave eye repair cream, not sure if it’s the dark circle one (although it seems to help mine!), but it’s not the anti aging one. I use it because so soothing, it’s the white and blue packaging. It’s gorgeous

I use glossier stretch for every day, it's lightweight, creamy and very light reflecting. I use IT cosmetics for those days I need something heavier. Stretch you can definitely use alone, I use it with a bb cream, IT is great and waterproof but I would look like a panda if I wore it alone

I use Merit The Minimalist under my eyes and on spots without foundation or tinted moisturiser and it looks good. I think the key is using something semi sheer which is a good colour match.

Hi. I'd look for concealers with hyaluronic acid or glycerin for hydration since under eye skin tends to be dry and creases easily with the wrong formula.
