5 minutes to fix it

Not entirely S&B but I’m putting it here anyway. What things can you do in 5 minutes or less which make you feel a little bit better?

So far I’ve got:
splash face with cold water

moisturise

Use hand cream

take a fizzy vitamin C tablet

tidy a drawer

tinted moisturiser

put some eyeliner on, even if you can’t be bothered with anything else

listen to a song you love have a kitchen dance

stick some daffodils in a jug

put a skirt or dress on instead of leggings or jeans

arrange some flowers in a vase

use body lotion all over before bed

Trying to motivate myself after a difficult few weeks!

Shape nails and push back cuticles

Put some quick drying polish on your toenails (not a proper pedicure but cheers me up and makes me feel like I’ve made an effort)

Make the bed

Five minutes on the laundry pile whenever I’ve got some “dead time” like waiting for the kettle to boil or the toaster to pop up

Yes to quickly painted toe nails. Perfect - it really is cheering!

Lay out an outfit that you know you are going to be excited to wear the next day.

Always a good one - and so easy to get into a rut and forget.

Also not all very S&B:

Viakal the kitchen sink
Put on some perfume
Cull some emails and do some unsubscribing
Whizz the hoover round
Tidy my handbag
Pluck some hairs! Used to be eyebrows...
Clean my (eye) glasses
I would say change my bedding but that takes longer than 5 mins
Put my books back into the shelves, rather than just on them (IYSWIM)
Dig out a different accessory for later/next day eg I've got lots of scarves/gloves/sunglasses but tend to keep the same ones in my work bag and wear on repeat
Change my earrings

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/02/2026 19:09

These are great - especially the cleaning your glasses one. Mine are currently filthy - so I will do them immediately!

Do some squats, lunges, calf raises or worktop assisted push-ups - exercise snacking works!

Specialagentblond · 18/02/2026 19:46

Stretches
sit with a coffee
or lie down eyes closed
read a 5min article
walk around the block at lunchtike
natter with best mate
eat chocolate
eat biscuits
eat crisps
eat cheese

other things that soothe/regulate me if I’m in a funk

light candle
open window and get fresh air
airpods on podcast on

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/02/2026 19:51

All good!

I have so many candles and never remember to light them. On the list.

Oh, and meditation minis podcast is fab!

Icecreamisthebest · 18/02/2026 20:23

Practice gratitude - think of 3 things that you are grateful for. If possible write them down

CookingFatCat · 18/02/2026 20:47

Put on a lip/ cheek tint - instantly look healthier!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/02/2026 20:54

I’m dreadful at meditating and doing the gratitude thing- I’ve tried but they’re just not for me.

Lipstick and blusher I can do though!
