Ebay verification for Mulberry bag

How reliable is the Ebay verification process for designer bags? I really want a Bayswater classic or cross body. I am about to receive some money and decided this is the time to put myself first and get the bag. But as I can not decide on which type, to go second hand. I have looked at both in the Mulberry shop and Selfridges and still none the wiser. Also I want Oxblood and that's not a current colour. So will I be ripped off with a Turkey special on Ebay if its verified? The money marks the end of a shit situation and I want the bag to mark that. Otherwise I'd be sensible. It's only £1300 so not life changing

I'm not sure about verification process on Ebay but have you considered going to a Mulberry outlet shop or to their factory shop in Shepton Mallet?

Many years ago, I bought a Roxanne from the factory shop. It was hugely discounted and even with travel costs to Shepton and a B&B, much cheaper than retail prices. I could have bought it from their online site but decided to go and see which styles suited me best.

They stock discontinued designs as well as current ranges so the colour you want may be there. You can call them and make enquiries. I found them to be incredibly helpful. They also have a preloved section online so you can get used ones.

If you do buy through Ebay, there should be buyer protection from counterfeit goods. The stitching and metal work are of the highest quality on my bag. The bag feels robust and has a good weight to it. I don't use it very often now but has barely aged in 10+ years.

That’s really helpful to know about the factory shop in Shepton Mallet. It’s great to hear that they carry discontinued colors too. I hadn’t realized that. I also like the idea of seeing the styles in person before deciding; sometimes pictures just don’t do them justice. And good tip about the quality details like stitching and weight, that’s exactly the kind of thing that makes a difference with designer bags.

You would be better off on one of the vetted Facebook groups for buying and selling mulberry. There are 3 or 4 of them. EBay and Vinted verifications throw up loads and loads of fakes.

This would be my advice too, the Facebook groups are pretty well run and lots of rules too. I’ve sold bags on there, and bought.
If you do see one on EBay/ Vinted there are authentication companies out there who will tell you if it’s real or not for a small fee.

I’d also do a quick google search and see if there are any vintage shops locally to you & enquire.

Visiting Shepton Mallet is a good idea, or maybe Bicester village shop.
