My weight keeps fluctuating - I need jeans I feel confident in for my current size - but I keep getting it wrong (12/14 - 5ft 3 - pear)

Well that’s it - I keep thinking I’ll lose weight soon - so have all my 10/12 jeans waiting - but I’m currently between 12/14. Age 39 - 5ft 3. I buy jeans - they cling or are too big. I can’t keep buying jeans. But I’m optimistic I’ll lose weight (I’ve had success before but I can’t seem to get motivated this time). So I have too many jeans, none I feel good in. Next, Levi, new look, mango…Some are “summer” jeans which I hope will work again in the summer - stone wash barrel etc) And the cycle goes on. Any tips?

I got a wide leg pair from Asda that I really like, they are quite high waisted. I am 5ft 3 and got the short length which is fine to wear with flats. They are a thin denim so they seem to drape quite nicely. They were only £20.00.

My solution is to have many many pairs of jeans for all the different sizes I’ve been. It’s not really a solution, more of an outcome.

The only way to make this not awful is to only ever buy jeans that you actually like well enough on your body right now. Never ones that will be ok if you lose a bit of weight (or get fatter). And keep them stored by size, and bin any manky old ones.

if your weight is inconsistent its because your training and eating choices are inconsistent. I am in the same boat. Its getting harder to stay in shape as i grow older though to be honest. Its easier for women to maintain shape and form.

Why not just wear other things for now?

Jeans aren’t compulsory. It seems perverse to insist on wearing the hardest thing possible to get right if your weight is fluctuating.

Three things id say. Firstly is be kind to yourself. No idea of your age, stress levels, etc but many women find the same due to a variety of reasons.
Secondly is M and S do a great range of jeans and styles in different lengths. I’ve had them in size 12, 14 and 16!
Finally - Vinted. I no longer have anything in my wardrobe that doesn’t fit. I’ve sold everything that’s too small, too big or I don’t like. It’s a revelation. I have far fewer things but I like them all and they look nice and fit well. I buy things on there too. Selling things and then being able to treat yourself to new things is addictive!
I also buy new things like jeans, shoes, bras and swimsuits.

Next are doing flexi fit jeans? Said to work over a range of sizes

Thanks everyone! Not wearing jeans - I actually had never thought of this 🤣🫣. And I think I def need to at least pack away all the jeans that don’t fit. And shall check out those options suggested too. Thanks!

I go up and down as well. I ended up with loads of jeans too big abd too small. I had a clear out and got rid of all of it. Only kept jeans that fitted, it helped me feel so much better about myself.
