They look very on trend for the “chunky” highlight look!

If you asked for subtle or well blended highlights then it’s not what you asked for.

TomatoSandwiches · 14/02/2026 10:36

Did they put a toner on?

toberone · 14/02/2026 10:38

I didnt ask for chunky my hairdresser knows i dont like that look. And yes a toner was applied . My hair is hard to lift and in bad condition so maybe she didnt use a high enough lift

Unless you’re specifically going for a 1990s look then yes I’m afraid I think they’re bad highlights.

MabelAnderson · 14/02/2026 10:58

I think they are a bit too blocky and high contrast. My hairdresser did mine along these lines once, she agreed they were too stripey and I went back the following week for her to try and tone down the contrast between the light and the darker streaks. Mine was more obviously tiger striped than yours, but I would get your hairdresser to blend yours in better if you don’t like the chunks and the contrast.

Bringyourfoldingchair · 14/02/2026 11:29

Sorry OP but yes. Far too thick and poorly blended.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 14/02/2026 11:35

Get them redone finer. They’re too thick.

toberone · 14/02/2026 12:02

What should i say/ask for to fix ?

This. I would be very unhappy with those.

MidnightMeltdown · 15/02/2026 18:04

They look very 90s! I thought highlighting techniques had improved since then but maybe they’re back in fashion!

Agree.

Does it reflect what you asked for OP?

BlueBlueBerries · 15/02/2026 18:05

Ask for babylights if you want a very fine woven highlight.

ABeerInTheSunshineMakesMeHappy · 15/02/2026 18:41

The photo on the left looks different to the one on the right, more subtle.

toberone · 16/02/2026 11:08

@ABeerInTheSunshineMakesMeHappy its just different lighting .

Sparkletastic · 16/02/2026 11:25

Atrocious
I would not trust the same hairdresser to correct them tbh

So i went today to get a root tap to try and blend in the highlights and now i just feel like its a big dark band and another colour on my head

OP posts:
whattheysay · 17/02/2026 14:44

arr The second lot of photos ones of it fixed? Because I’m sorry to say but it looks worse than the first ones. Is it the lighting your roots are very noticeable in a circle around your head and the highlights look the same

truffleruffle · 17/02/2026 14:45

Yes bad

truffleruffle · 17/02/2026 14:46

I would have went back to the hairdresser

Wehavealaughdontwe · 17/02/2026 15:03

Honestly, I'm sorry to say I think they have made it worse. They should have added some finer highlights to break it up rather than adding a darker colour at the root. Go and ask for your money back and go elsewhere to get it fixed

FrostyFlo · 17/02/2026 15:21

Sorry but you look like you have 6 weeks of growth with all that dark .

IDontHateRainbows · 17/02/2026 15:47

Jeez I must be old if there are fashionable again, last saw this in the late 90s

That’s what I said! She needed finer highlights.
