Erborian shade advice needed please

I've read a lot on here about erborian and I want to try it but not sure of the shade. Im typical Scottish colouring, a pale redhead that never tans. I do have pink cheeks and tendency to flush easily. I'm in my 50s too so a bit dry and getting wrinkles.
I hate the feel of make up on my skin and erborian sounds very light and natural feeling so id like to try it.
I was colour matched at clarins and I was "ivory" in their skin illusion foundation. It just felt a bit claggy on my face. I think erborian sounds a bit lighter and more natural looking.
Can anyone give me a clue about what shade i should buy in either the CC or BB cream please? Again, I don't know the difference between them either?
Also the eye concealer in Clair, is this suitable for someone very pale?

Thank you. Im on low wages and I dont want to buy something I hate but there's nowhere near me that sells erborian to get a try of it.

I use Clair in the cc cream in winter and dore in summer. If you are super pale you could use porcelain?

The cc cream sounds like what you are after; the bb cream is heavier.

I wouldnt bother with the cc eye cream until youve worked out the colour you need. The main cc cream is probably fine. I don't really use my cc eye cream.

Thank you @Pineneedlesincarpet. Are you similar colouring to me? The thing is im pale but rosy cheeks so something that matches my paleness only would make me look deathly.

I think porcelain would probably match but make me deathly looking.

I notice there's CC cream and CC water, I wonder what the difference is?

I’m Scottish with the very palest skin you can have though not redhead (sadly!) - I need a neutral foundation as anything cool/pink toned makes me look like a corpse.
I’d avoid the CC to be honest - it oxidised on me and went very orange (lightest shade).
OTOH I love the BB and wear it everyday in Nude which just warms my skin up enough. Clair is too pink.
BTW you can get a travel size to try it out before committing to the expensive full size. A tube also lasts for ages.

I do have similar colouring (with redness) but I don't have super pale skin ..more light/medium. The cc cream is very forgiving colour-wise so maybe Clair would be good for you if you are worried about looking too pale. Its a Korean brand, which I bear in mind as their skin tone can be much lighter than mine.

There are often people selling samples on eBay. To me it was worth ordering the 3 I did to find my perfect shade.

Hightideattheseaside · 14/02/2026 09:29

I’ve just got the cc cream in clair. It matches well and is very light feeling. I don’t like make up but felt I’m starting to need something. It doesn’t feel I’m wearing anything and isn’t covering blemishes but feels like it evens my skin out quite nicely. I’ve dark hair and pale skin with warm undertones (apparently) I wonder if clair would be too dark for you if you are very pale.

The cc water is just really light coverage. Almost no cover at all. Imperceptible. The normal cc cream is like a light tinted moisturiser.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 14/02/2026 09:31

I would go with Clair in CC. I’m a pale Scot, but the palest shade in anything makes me look deathly. I use Clair in winter and mix it with some dore in the summer. It comes in two sizes I think, so the smaller size is worth a try. I have bothered the CC and BB creams (nude in the BB cream), but the CC cream is very light and sheer.

hashisucks · 14/02/2026 09:36

Oh I’ve just seen that the CC is now available in porcelain which might be worth a try - though the new formula is getting some negative reviews. I definitely recommend the BB anyway - and it doesn’t sit in my pores as do many bases do.

Ilovemyshed · 14/02/2026 09:36

Space NK sell it so you could try it there?

Sunshineandgrapefruit · 14/02/2026 09:40

I am not a red head either but pale, freckled and burn easily. I use clair.

IceOnTheLake · 14/02/2026 09:40

I've similar colouring to you OP and bought clair which was the right colour. A sample from eBay helped me decide.

I did have problems with it turning orange like the poster above - DH actually noticed it, it was so obvious at my jaw line (even though it was definitely the right colour for my skin if that makes sense).

Have found Trinny London BFF cream (light) and BFF de-stress in Jemima, or Typology sérum teinté in T10 to be perfect with no oxidizing.

TheFallenMadonna · 14/02/2026 09:56

I use the Dull Correct, which I absolutely love. I have pale skin and white hair.

MJOverInvestor · 14/02/2026 10:05

I’m your colouring - with copious freckles - and an independent, v good (quite famous) make up person said Clair is the right shade (and to only use a little). I love it and find it almost full-proof…

JacknDiane · 14/02/2026 10:10

Thanks everyone. I've ordered travel sized CC cream in porcelain and in Clair.
Though I might try getting samples on ebay first. That's a great idea.
Thanks everyone again.

I’ve been using the cc in Clair since 2020 discovered by watching a make up tutorial, couldn’t go try it anywhere, so took a chance with an online order from Space NK - absolutely loved it but apart from it’s gone up in price obviously, recently the formula has changed (and packaging slightly different) and it really isn’t the same. It’s only a slight change but enough to make me think about trying an alternative brand. @JacknDiane OP you can get samples at Space NK and a tiny- cheaper- travel size is also available if you don’t want to commit to full size tube. I’ve found it sold out in Clair in stores recently, more reliable to buy online.
