As someone wanting a bit of a makeup reboot, I booked a make up session at a JL store. I wanted exposure to a range of products rather than just one company. Sadly I ended up really disappointed with my experience. As only a few JL stores offer make up sessions I had to travel over an hour and a half each way.
I arrived promptly and was greeted by the staff and made to feel welcome. I was told that they could only focus on one aspect - base, eyes or lips which I hadn’t picked up on from the website or booking process. She asked a couple of brief questions and then disappeared off to collect products. She was gone for over 17 minutes (time checked on my phone). When she returned she had 5 products - 3 the same just different shades. We discussed the products briefly, she applied them and wrote them down. This took just over 10 minutes. This was then the end of the session. I was given the list of products and then I went and browsed the counters for myself, looking for the 3 products that were used. I did buy them although I felt they were all very expensive despite me having said I would prefer the lower price range ( for JL) - one was £50.
i was really disappointed by the experience. I know that it was a free session but it was much shorter than the hour advertised and I had hoped for advice about more than just one aspect. I wouldn’t book again and couldn’t recommend it to anyone although I have had positive experiences with a personal shopping session in the past.
