I don't really follow fashion as I wear what suits me - I've been wearing skinny jeans/slim straight trousers for ages, despite loving flares all through the 90s and early 2000s and never imagining the hold skinnies would take!
I wanted to try some wider-legged trousers as I have some flat Chelsea boots I want to wear to work, and my straight trousers just don't work with them. However these just make me look like a toddler or like I'm waddling around - I have quite slim legs and don't like this baggy look on me.
I found some old bootcut jeans and they seemed like what I was looking for - straight on the thigh and slightly flared at the bottom, so look flared with jeans or slightly straighter with boots. This made me think my ideal work trousers might be bootcut - but I've tried some black ones and although in theory they're what I thought I was looking for, I can't shake the feeling that I've stepped straight back to the 00ies and I look really naff and dated because of it.
Do bootleg trousers work, style-wise? Do they only work with heels?
