im late 40/ and have a mums night out. I’m feeling overwhelmed with what to wear and what’s in. I’d like jeans and a nice top ideas. I’m a 12/14 and feeling conscious of my tummy so would like something with shape and a v neck or plunge if possible. I’ve no idea about what jeans are in either so please send me suggestions or links

Gosh some folks really love skinnies. If folks are so confident you can wear anything, which you can, why pretend they are coming back, right now they are not.

On tv, Claudia wears leggings. She likes the clingy look. That doesn’t mean everyone else is copying her. She’s in her 50s isn’t she? Younger people find street style more exciting.

lol what are you talking about. Firstly Holland cooper are hardly the epitome of current, far from it, but even they do multiple Jean styles, including wide leg.

Victoria Beckham is not trail blazing skinnies. And doesn’t even sell em, she wears mostly her own clothes.

kate moss I can’t comment on other than she goes her own way and I’ve not seen her In jeans for ages.

I don’t want to argue, I was actually just telling the original poster to wear whatever she feels most comfortable in.

A simple Google search will show you all those mentioned in their skinny jeans. Including Victoria Beckham - they made a big deal of it on Instagram.

Holland Cooper might not be the epitome of high fashion but it’s gaining huge traction in the UK fashion scene and I’ve just been to their flagship store in Cheltenham with friends and didn’t see any wide legged denim on display.

Apologies if I got that wrong though.

Celebs and runway are only part of the story. Magazines are also trying to tell us skinnies are back but then showing images of baggy or straight or bootleg jeans. I was out in my local city last weekend and there were lots of women wearing skinny jeans, but they definitely look like they're still wearing them from last time round. Top half too tight, wrong footwear, poorly styled, cheap looking handbag. I do agree that anything goes, but in general stylish women on the street are not wearing skinnies at the moment.

I’m out out this afternoon so am going to see how many women are wearing sknnies! I’ll be wearing my wide leg jeans.

I think maybe that’s the key, not just wearing sknniy jeans as if it’s 15 years ago. Same with boot cuts. I can’t see me going back to either tbh.

Skinnies had better not been coming back. I finally got around to having a clothes sort out lately and took literally a whole bin bag full of them to the clothes bank about a month ago 🤣. Sod’s law that I procrastinated on that until they were back in fashion again.

I don’t want to argue either, but I follow Victoria Beckham and she has not made a big deal of skinnies on there, in fact it’s all wide leg. She doesn’t even sell skinnies and normally wears many of her own clothes.

im simply correcting, none of these people, none of the magazines and none of the fashion houses have said skinnies are coming back,

Once a fashion trend swings so far in one direcrion it takes a very long time to swing back. Think of bootleg. It takes years, it’s because both the cost associated with it,and also it becomes too dated looking

the trend for 26 is still straight or wide, very fluid. And I suspect thay will be the case for several years.

I follow her too and she posted herself in pale grey super skinny jeans with heels mid November and it got posted to Hello magazine with a whole article about her being back in her skinny jeans.

There have also been countless articles about them being back in fashion in 25/26 and lots of photos of various celebrities wearing them again…so I can’t understand why you’re saying I’m wrong.
