Dress to impress

Hi all!
I have an event next weekend and the theme is dress to impress! Previously on these events it’s been “night out” wear rather than red carpet, so nothing too fancy.

I have lost some weight recently so would like to show that off. Size 16-18, would like to cover my upper arms and nothing clingy around tummy.
I am a “young” 37.

hit me with your suggestions, I am happy with dresses, trousers, anything really. Budget - £200 max!

That’s pretty. Definitely something to try, although not something I would usually try. I agree, I wouldn’t usually go for phase 8 either!

Do you know what, it’s rare to have something special to get well and truly dressed up for. I would be tempted to go all out for something outlandish and really dramatic, like a stunning period costume gown rental! Full on regency, be a queen for the night! (I am a little eccentric though, it does depend on how much you want to stand out ) We only get one life, why not go for a splash of drama OP!

Absolutely love this suggestion, but not for me. Likely to end up in town afterwards!

The length of the first one is probably no good for me.

The 3rd one is probably too dressy.

I do like the never fully dressed one though, that’s a contender!

Fair enough, it is pretty out there! I have been watching some period dramas so must be influencing my brain! 😂 would love the op to go full period gown get-up though, looks so fun. May have to add it to the bucket list..!

I would love it if someone did dress like that, but I’m more of a Zara/River Island/Oliver Bonas girl myself 😁

Just to update. I found a gorgeous pair of silky wide leg trousers in a charity shop, and I have a burgundy lacy top to pair with them. Now just on the hunt for some sparkly heels and I’m sorted 😀

Ooo that sounds lovely! Have you found your sparkly heels yet?

im still imagining the fantastic Shakespeare hire option. I really hope someone else goes for that! I’m at the age that I’d probably try it :)))
