New thread because we can't stop chit-chatting and failing our low buy resolutions.

Everyone welcome to join in, new and old alike. This thread is a bad influence zone though so be warned all who enter! 😂

I’m so sad, but I could talk about eyeshadow palettes for hours! It’s my specialist subject (along with flavours of crisps 😂).

My one that got away is the Huda Beauty Rose Quartz. I think it’s discontinued now but it was beautiful.

I have not used Morphe palettes before, how do they compare to Viserart and Natasha Denona?
Am always very tempted but then remind myself I probably have the colours in my existing palettes

JoRaRaRa · 11/02/2026 19:26

I've got a few old palettes that I don't reach for anymore, I think I'm going to throw them away as the thought of using them makes me 🤢

I've just moved some 'not as old but also don't reach for' palettes into the spare room to make space for new ones. I have managed to resist the viseart ones, I'm holding out for the new chanel denim spring 2026 one. I think it's released on the 18th 🩵

Fillybuster · 11/02/2026 19:40

@CorneliaStreet not sad at all….or if you are, then I’m happily right there with you. I could do a whole spiel on “palettes I have known and loved”. And, also, sadly, on “palettes I have spent far too much money on and then not really used at all, that sit in my drawer and make me feel guilty”….😐 Case in point: I thought the Nars Quad Laguna would be so perfect, but it really doesn’t float my boat at all. The Morphe Rose, on the other hand, was a super last minute pre holiday grab (cheap, planned to chuck it at the end), which has developed into a full blown love affair and my longest committed relationship since my UD Naked Days. Which is insane!

@Thelifeofawife glad I’m not alone in my Morphe appreciation! Btw, I bought the Morphe Bronze edit on the back of my Rose love, and whilst undeniably beautiful, it doesn’t speak to me in the same way.

@MrsBnow12 I haven’t tried either brand, so can’t compare, but Morphe isnt a big investment if you fancy a bit of a fling if the colours appeal.

@JoRaRaRa I hear you loud and clear on the old eyeshadows. I’ve reorganised my makeup drawers so that there’s a —horribly large— “semi retired” section, and then there’s an “even more retired, but can’t quite bring myself to throw them out” collection in a box in the bathroom cabinet.

Edited to add: JLP have offered to replace my Rejuvenate box with ND delivery, and asked me to send back the current one. Let’s see what comes tomorrow!

Oh dear, no buy Feb is not going well... I've just bought the Lumene advent calendar, reduced to £49 and then with a welcome discount knocked another £9 off, so at £40 with free shipping, 'twas a no brainer!

Much eye rolling in the Bubble household though!

Ooh I bought myself one of these at Christmas. It is lovely ! Might be tempted to get another …

Gwan gwan, @wohmum

make me feel better about succumbing and not using my stash 😀

OvaHere · 11/02/2026 20:40

@Fillybuster I'm a big Morphe fan. Love their palettes, brushes and I really love the new powder they brought out.

Evening beauty oracles!

I’m needing a new contour and I wondered if anyone has tried the westman atelier contour sticks and would you recommend?

JoRaRaRa · 11/02/2026 20:57

I'm also a fan of morphe, their contour stick is very similar to the Victoria beckham one and just as good, the triple blushes are nice too, I've been thinking of getting a few more especially the bright pink one. And I always use their brow pomade.

Apparently, eyeshadows should be binned after 1 to 2 years. Hmmm... I used one at Christmas that's at least 8 or 9 years old and didn't get any rash or infections 🤔 I was thinking that any over 10 years, I would bin, but now I'm wondering if I should reduce that to 5. I'm not sure I can part with any as young as 2 🤣

TragicMuse · 11/02/2026 20:57

I am sorely tempted by a lipstick from Dafna Beauty but I’d have to pay an insane amount of postage from the US.

I've only tried the highlight and blush sticks, I quite like both of them. I'd probably purchase a WA contour stick myself if I didn't have so much to get through.

I have a UD Book of Shadows IV which is ancient and I still use it. No problems at all. Come to that I have quite a lot of vintage makeup…

Thanks @JoRaRaRa. I’m tempted. I’m sure I spotted a mini version of them on one of the beauty sites - I might give that a go first and see how i get on

I reckon I've got some really old ones in the cupboard above the stairs. I might venture in there tomorrow to see if I can clear any out. I'm sure I've got a big bag of makeup that I've not touched since we moved in 7 years ago 😳 that was probably the makeup I semi retired back then 🤣

LoveLabradors · 11/02/2026 21:37

Morphe eye palettes are fab as is the powder. I think they are a great brand and amazingly good value for the quality. I can’t wait for the summer and a bit of a tan to enjoy using the python code palette again, it makes me happy just looking at it! I also rate the Zoeva eye pencils for a fabulous array of shades.

BookShark · 11/02/2026 22:00

@Fillybuster I'm still waiting for my JL Rejuvenate order - was meant to be Click & Collect from Waitrose today, but they've sent me an email saying it's delayed. Maybe they're sending you mine?! Withe way, I'll report back on the quality (or not) of the packaging when/if it arrives.

Talisin · 11/02/2026 22:08

My Smoulder palette from Cosmic Brushes has arrived and it is just beautiful. Can’t wait till the weekend when I can have a good play with it 😍

I've been wanting to try out zoeva pencils, I get adverts for them on insta all the time and they look so good 😍

@Peachbubble and @SheilaFentiman I would if I could use the discount code again.. but I used it when I bought the first time!

QueefofSheena · 11/02/2026 22:39

I much prefer Zoeva pencils to VBB, which feel claggy on my eyes

I had my eye on a couple of their palettes but the smoulder one passed me by. I’ve just taken a look and wow, it’s lovely!

Fillybuster · 11/02/2026 23:34

Pretty sure that Smoulder is the OG from @OvaHere which kicked off all this Cosmic shopping!

Glad I’m not alone in my Morphe love. I’m embarrassingly understocked on brushes (genuinely!) & was eyeing up the Morphe ones last year. Welcome any recommendations / reviews on how those compared to similarly priced alternatives. I don’t need a huge set: one or two for eyes, one for foundation, maybe one for blush ( although I mostly use my W Atelier stick or an old K jelly) and another for bronzer. Or maybe I need more and don’t know it?

@LoveLabradors i also have the Python palette: it’s soooo pretty, but will be giving it to dsis as it’s really more her colours than mine <sob!>

Yes I have Smoulder and The Lovers.

I bought the Morphe travel brush kit in butter yellow a couple of weeks ago as a downstairs kit. I've been trialing a new make up system to work around my flaws. Basically I've been a bit lazy at doing make upon days I don't leave the house and given how much I have I want to make more use of it.

It's working quite well. I now have a downstairs kit on my desk with a selection of products and every week or so I swap stuff out - eye palettes, lips sticks, blush. So stuff is getting rotated and used.

I know you're probably thinking why not just go upstairs and do your make up but I find that doesn't work. I'm not 'awake' enough first thing so I'm more likely to do it at my desk after coffee and morning chores whilst waiting for the laptop to boot.

Anyway, upshot of that ramble is I really like the Morphe brush kit and the rubbery bag means nothing gets too dirty and can be wiped down.

Thanks also to whoever was the bad influence, I've now bought some Zoeva pencils. They look really nice and a more reasonable price than VBB.
