Talk to me about jeans

I currently don't have any as they look terrible on me .. gaping waist then tight on thighs with creases accross the thighs. I'm pear shaped..

Im currently on a huge weight loss journey. 1 stone down so far, 1-1.5 to go. Currently a size 12-14

In the past I've had Next super comfy stretchy type soft "jeans' (not denim) Just ordered some Levis straight leg in dark blue with some stetch.

Are branded eg Levis a better fit than the average highstreet fashion store ?

I don’t think it’s so much the brand as the style that makes a difference. You might want something with a bit of stretch but really you need a department store or large retailer with many styles and just take every style in your size and try them on. I should think the length of your body versus your leg length will also make a difference so vary between higher rise and lower rise. I quite like a Levi’s ribcage and a straight 501 but they might not suit you. M&S is always pretty good too I find If you’re not wanting to spend a lot at this stage.

I’m impressed with my halara jeans loads of different styles and colours and really comfortable

I agree with PP that it depends on your shape more than the brand. I’ve had Levi’s before and haven’t found them better than high street jeans I’ve had, just more expensive. M&S have a nice selection at the moment - I’m living in their carrot jeans.

I’ve just bought two pairs of M&S Autograph jeans, my first new ones in years! I’m pear shaped too. They were £50 a pair, wide legged without making me look like a clown and the right fit on the waist. I’m a size 10 but had to get a 12 in one of the pairs due to the denim being more rigid. M&S have loads of styles in at the moment, I’d go and have a good look in there. I can’t wear the carrot style ones, I’m too pear shaped.

Unfortunately cost rarely has a bearing on the overall fit, more how long they last.

I am losing weight and went John Lewis and tried on around 12 pairs and nothing fit wonderfully. M&S were better for me and Tesco currently best although more annoying as they don’t have fitting rooms so purchased 6 pairs and returned 4.

I tried on a few pairs from Mint Velvet at the weekend and was really impressed with the quality.

M&S are good for pear shapes (as an Apple I do better in Next).

Levis tend to be really good quality and durable.
