Talk me out of Holland Cooper!

It's terrible. I'm in love with all her stuff, especially the tailored suit sets - matching coat, trousers, waistcoat. The whole lot would be around £1500 - talk me out of wanting to splurge on this. Thank you.

Post it on the de-influencing thread!

I live down the road from HC HQ. New offices look amazing.. but they won't have been cheap!

Pricelessadvice · 29/01/2026 16:36

A lot of the equestrian influencers wear it and push it. That’s enough to make avoid ever buying it.
I think it looks like cheap tat that’s trying to look expensive, personally, but that just might be me.

2026ontheway · 29/01/2026 16:38

I would be super interested in knowing what the quality is like actually. I think the full on look is a bit bling for me but like individual items - but so pricey! So would love to know if it’s worth it.

Ilovecheeseyah · 29/01/2026 16:38

I think Fairfax and favour looks better quality and less wannabe tbh
don’t get it - some of it is nice but it will never have true money vibes

Ilovecheeseyah · 29/01/2026 16:38

Typo old money

charlieandthechocolatfactory · 29/01/2026 16:39

I have the Arosa coat and I LOVE IT
£400 and very worth it

CMOTDibbler · 29/01/2026 16:45

I have a HC trench in dark red and it is vvv good quality, feels amazing on, and I get so many compliments from random people every time I wear it.
They do a lovely personal shopping appointment service at the Cheltenham boutique, and will take your clothes straight for alterations and then send them onto you

Why super interested though and not just interested? 😂

For me, the draw is;

100% wool - British
Made in Britain
The gold hardware and details.

And I'm haunted by JHC and her clothes everywhere on the net and in my socials. All beautifully staged and photographed. The Christmas shoots were out of this world.

And I'm a sucker for the exhortation to "invest" in quality pieces that will last ...

I have quite a few HC bits - we have horses and so it's nice to have clothes that can work both for mucking out at the yard and for everyday wear. They are generally practical and hard wearing but also stylish.

I've found that the quality is good - I have pairs of jeans and some jumpers that have lasted me for some years, and still look great. I love their gilets for layering in the winter and have treated myself to both a short and long coat. The long coat was quite spenny... but it feels amazing on, is really warm and most importantly it actually washes well so when it gets covered in mud I can get it clean.

You need to work out your cost per wear - for me it's definitely been worth the price as I've got loads of wear out each item. There's also a decent second hand re-sale market if you did want to sell anything.

Sorry - I've not done a particularly good job at talking you out of buying!

Amandaholdenstits · 29/01/2026 17:30

@FanFckingTastic

No, you haven't! In fact, no one yet has:)

I find HC and F&F a bit tacky / try hard. Cos-playing a 'stylish equestrian'.

krustykittens · 29/01/2026 17:43

I have a HC jacket that I bought to look a bit smarter when I am grooming for my DD at shows, I love it, it's great quality but it was only £90 on ebay! Go on ebay and you can start slowly piecing the look together with a smaller budget but for the love of God, mix it up with other stuff! Wearing head to toe only one brand makes you look like someone devoid of imagination and that's not only my opinion, that is Tom Ford's! I know someone who wears head to foot HC when she goes out, down to her handbag and belt and it's overwhelming.

psuedocream3 · 29/01/2026 17:48

I have a few key pieces from HC, My main issue is the tarnishing on the hardware, it goes bronze quickly on trousers, not so much jumpers/shirts. That said the overall quality is high, I love my shirts and trousers, and my cape. And my boots actually. I've had and sold many pieces though I wasn't fully happy with, mostly blazers and jumpers. Also the trouser sizing is definitely quite hit and miss, a pair of XS size 6 tailored trousers were suitable for only a size 4, but another pair of the same design in a different colourway was a comfortable 6.

I wouldn't ever buy full price personally either.

ttcat37 · 30/01/2026 12:29

We live rurally, always lived here. You can always tell the folk that have recently moved from a town as they wear Holland and Cooper. It’s a bit… nouveau riche. Agree with @notquiteruralbliss saying it was cos-playing.

peacefulpeach · 30/01/2026 12:33

I was influenced by a friend to buy a coat from HC. It was expensive. I don’t like it. The cut is poor, the quality is dubious. I should’ve stuck with Barbour.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 30/01/2026 15:30

I don’t like it at all. It’s pretend equestrian.

TheUsualChaos · 30/01/2026 15:44

H&C is so showy now, it didn't used to be so brash. Screams step out of the Porsche on to the pony and back again without getting any dirt under your nails. I find people wear it now because they want to make sure others to know how much they've spent.
Sadly F&F is going the same way over the last couple of years but I still love my ancient boots from them.

PlumDeNomNomNom · 30/01/2026 15:48

The whole band is about making clothes based on what a poor person thinks a rich person wears. If that’s your style then crack on.

Ineedanewsofa · 30/01/2026 15:56

Own a fair bit of HC, JHC is a tall girl and many of the pieces seem cut for tall/long limbed girls, I’m 5ft 10 with monkey arms and never have to worry about having cold wrists or ankles 🤣
Quality is generally very solid, the one item I had that wasn’t great they sorted a replacement super quickly. Agree it went a bit blingy for a while but newer stuff seems more toned down which I’m all for.
Cost per wear is definitely the key, it is pricey but it does have a strong resale value on Vinted, I got over 50% of RRP for a couple of shirts last year.
Not sure I’ve done much to put you off either…

HebeJeeby · 30/01/2026 15:56

I too get lots of feeds for HC in my social media and JHC is a great sales woman. She’s beautiful, slim and the clothes look fantastic on her. So, I was looking forward to buying some clothes from her stand at Excel this Xmas. I was so disappointed, the quality (I felt) wasn’t great and the jumper I did try on didn’t fit terribly well. There is too much hardware and branding on the clothes for me
personally. I prefer branding to be more discreet. However, I seem
to be in the minority and lots of people love what she does, so fair play to JHC, she’s created a very coveted brand.

StylishAndBeautiful · 30/01/2026 16:00

It looks nice @Amandaholdenstits but couldn't you create the same look with clothes from brands like Bruar? Ladieswear | The House of Bruar

Drivingmissrangey · 30/01/2026 16:07

I love my tailored HC items. I have a couple of blazers, a couple of skirts, trousers, a coat. Fabric is beautiful, a really nice weight to it and I have no concerns with the quality.
