Talk me out of Holland Cooper!

It's terrible. I'm in love with all her stuff, especially the tailored suit sets - matching coat, trousers, waistcoat. The whole lot would be around £1500 - talk me out of wanting to splurge on this. Thank you.

Two sweatshirts.. shrunk in the wash
Jeans No1- belt straps broke
Jeans No 2- zip constantly comes undone

@Calliopespa Except it’s not quiet. The coats have the large HC gold logo on the back and the style is very recognizable. Plus £750 for a coat so not polo shirt prices if you want total immersion. What surprises me is, that if you have the money, brands like Joseph are far better. Definitely quite chic. Some HC coats are fairly loud tartan!

VanityUnit66 · 04/02/2026 08:53

It’s very Sloane ranger. I’m not keen!

nongnangning · 04/02/2026 09:34

I had never heard of this label so just had a look.
Hmm.

Some of the tweedy trousers I'm sure I used to wear to the office in the late 1990s/early 2000s.
As for the rest of it, reminds me a bit of an episode of Allo Allo

Hope this does its job of putting you off OP

I think we might be saying the same thing: the cut and colour scheme and general country/tweedy vibe etc is generally quite quiet and then they slap this big, loud logo on it. That's what I mean by the style not sitting comfortably with the logo.

Limth · 04/02/2026 11:37

Never heard of them.

Just Googled.

Jesus Christ.

What an ugly load of shit.

Everything looks like it'd stink of dogs and mothballs.

It looks like a jumble sale for the clothes of an aristocrat family that died about 40 years ago.

I bought a coat that looks nearly identical to this one from Primark before Christmas - £34, so warm, waterproof and actually sized rather than 'one-size' what the fuck

I like it. Wouldn't buy it though.

Amandaholdenstits · 04/02/2026 16:34

Crikey, @Limth and @nongnangning don't hold back! Thanks for the laughs though. Isn't it amazing how one look can be nectar for one person and total anathema for someone else.

Now that we're moving into spring, I think I'll kick my penchant for HC down the road until later in the year ...

I've just seen an almighty complaints post re JHC boots on FB - so far there's around 214 messages from disgruntled customers. That's helping no end to put me off buying from them.😱

Instead of the country stuff (unless you live in the country, and then you'll have practical versions of this faux-designer stuff like this already) have a look at Taylor A. Jones - "Taylor the Tailor" on Insta - fantastic suits with proper made to measure fit.

Ihateboris · 04/02/2026 17:03

HC jeans are the best I've ever worn. I buy mine off Vinted.

Obeseandashamed · 04/02/2026 17:10

I’m not keen on Holland and cooper clothing as the shiny gold and buttons all over is a bit much for me but I did buy the one size coat as an alternative to a dry robe and I love it!

Obeseandashamed · 04/02/2026 17:11

Oh and whenever I see the HC belts, I think of Caroline Herrera and then remember it’s Holland Cooper 🙈

Not all the coats feature the HC logo.

I have this one too, bought it quite recently and it’s great so far.

Blinkingbother · 04/02/2026 17:35

i think all the gold bling makes it look really tacky - it’s very much an Essex meets the gold cup vibe. I do like that she’s using British wool though!

ShakyFridge · 04/02/2026 17:40

No. An incredibly annoying influencer has been shilling it for at least 5 years.

No that's true, and, prompted by this thread, I just had a look at their new collection and it looks much less gold hardwear, big HC'ish. Maybe lots of people have had this feedback and they have taken it on board.

I like the peplum tweed jacket!

Louise5712 · 12/02/2026 20:18

I made my first HC purchase back in 2020, the Marlborough Trench Coat, gorgeous coat and I’ve had many compliments. I have purchased a few other items over the years but recently I feel like the brand has become a bit of a sell out. They sell candles, uggs, even work lanyards. It’s all become very tacky. There is nothing JHC wouldn’t stick her big gold label on if it turned her a buck!
I am now offloading all of my HC on Vinted as I’m worried in a few years it will be as embarrassing to wear as Superdry is today!

OhDear111 · 12/02/2026 23:39

@Pollyanna87 As a member at Cheltenham, I can spot all HC designs at 100 yards! They are all SO obvious and everywhere. Maybe if they were called Mrs Superdry they would not get the sales?

Amandaholdenstits · 13/02/2026 07:52

@Louise5712 Yes, I'm sure you're right. She's even got a JHC personalised horsebox for goodness sake. I've looked into other up-and-coming designers of the JHC ilk and they are around.

Just wondering what fabric is the Ariella blouse?
It says it’s made from an “elegant satin fabric…”
Is it silk or polyester ?
It’s €199.
