DD1 has just told us they are getting married in about 3 months in a low key registry office event - lovely meal after for immediate family, big party to follow.

If I wore this https://katyawildman.com/products/zip-pocket-stretch-cotton-in-navy-polka-dot any ideas for accessorising? I'll be 62, 5'9 and larger than I'd like to be!! Anything a bit more fun than a string of pearls and some neutral kitten heels? Bought the dress to try but open to other ideas! Thank you!

Bright red heels and belt?

GlobalTravellerbutespeciallyBognor · 07/06/2026 07:08

I like it a lot and can totally see what attracted you to it BUT it isn’t cheap and for me I would prefer the blue and white ‘splodges ’ version, partly as black and white is harsh on me.

Also, you would be able to get lovely accessories that went with ‘splodges’ more easily. (You are a bit stuck with black or a strong contrast with the polka dots.)

The person who has great ideas is Eleanor67 (I think that’s her name) and she will hopefully be along soon.

if you stay with the polka dots, I’d probably go with black shoes and maybe a large red hat? Red and red would be slightly contrived imv. Or how about silver like Zara Philips had yesterday?!

Bright red heels and belt?

Definitely add some red. I was going to suggest a red necklace.

Defo not a red belt, that will cut you in two. Tonal belt and colourful shoes and jewellery is what I’d go for. Any of the colour ways of that dress are fab!

I wouldn't go for a belt personally as I think the dress is stand alone gorgeous and you'll want to be comfortable. But probably would go for tan shoes and bag or even silver.
