Mulberry new Roxanne

I’ve recently sold a bag and I want to replace it. This is a little higher than my budget but doable. For some reason I really like it. Everyone else I’ve asked says it’s really ugly and when I first saw it, i thought exactly that! But it seems to have really grown on me and looks very practical. I know the original Roxanne is a classic that many people love. Any thoughts welcome.

Sorry OP, I’m on team ugly. If I had to choose, I prefer the black over the brown. To me, it looks like the sort of bag that an American would like.

Ugly

BIossomtoes · 25/01/2026 23:49

Mulberry produces many bags that are more attractive.

FlowerPowerM · 25/01/2026 23:56

This is going well Blush
I should probably have listened to the people who had already told me, it’s hideous!

I’m team ugly. There’s just too much going on for my taste, far too much unnecessary hard wear, but life would be boring if we all liked the same things. If you love it, can afford it and will use it, buy it!

I have a vintage one in black Darwin leather and I find that the outer pockets are very useful. I think the new model is more user friendly as it’s lighter and has a shoulder strap though.

I like the new bag and would buy one if I didn’t already have the vintage one. I’d say go for it.

Giddykiddy · 26/01/2026 19:08

I just bought it in olive green - love it.

Blingismything · 26/01/2026 19:15

I love it

FlowerPowerM · 26/01/2026 20:52

Ooh interesting to get some different opinions, thank you. @Giddykiddy i really like the olive green one as well.

@Britpopbaby thank you for the suggestions, both really nice options but still prefer the new version. I do love a vintage option usually though.

I like it too - more so the black. We all like different things and it doesn't matter if someone else thinks it's ugly. So long as you like it, then buy it!

tescofishcakes · 26/01/2026 21:53

I don’t think it’s that bad - I’ve seen a lot uglier!

doublec · 26/01/2026 21:57

I disagree that the original Roxanne is a classic. If it was, Mulberry would not have discontinued. However, it is a bag that many hold great affection for. I am not one of those people. I also do not think the new version is particularly well-executed. It's clunky and retro, and not in a good way.

It's not for me, but that's because it's not my style. But OP, if you love, buy it.

Edited to add that I think the mini version is a much better design.

FlowerPowerM · 26/01/2026 22:50

I’m definitely going to give it some thought, it’s not a purchase that I want to rush into. I also like the soft Bayswater in the small size, there’s some really nice colour options too.

I had the original Roxanne and stopped using it as it was such a pain and a faff to keep unfolding the flaps and pocket buckles. Looked lovely but totally impractical and the new version doesn’t look any less hassle to use .

Thanks for the insight, this is definitely something I’ll consider.

The soft Bayswater is a much more stylish bag. It's not as stylised as Roxanne either, so you will get much more use out of it and it won't date.

BIossomtoes · 27/01/2026 10:41

The soft Bayswater is lovely. Beautiful shape and elegant in its simplicity.

Creu · 27/01/2026 14:01

The black one looks like something from River Island circa 2010.

paristotokyo · 27/01/2026 14:08

10000000% the Bayswater over the first you posted!

Advocodo · 27/01/2026 14:17

If you needed to sell this bag in the future then you might struggle judging by how many people are saying it’s ugly.

soontobeamama · 27/01/2026 14:26

I’m not a fan of it, sorry. I think if you are willing to spend that much on a bag, you wouldn’t need convincing as you would be sure it was the one for you. Maybe look at a more classic style instead?

noramoo · 27/01/2026 15:46

I actually like it OP, think it's got something a bit different about it. Meanwhile to me the Bayswater is dated. The most important thing though is that YOU like it!

That made me laugh! This bag is obviously quite Marmite.

lol, I can see that. Although the brown one gives me cowboy vibes which I hate more.
