My nose is always red, is there anything I can do (can't afford lazer)

I don't wear make up and when I have tried it never sticks to my nose! I've even been into Boots for a consult and I've told them that concealer just lifts from my red nose (my skin is totally normal, just very pink/red) and it did the same thing for the MUA.

Lazer is too expensive

Is there anything else I can do?

Have you tried anything like Rosalique anti redness?

CakeInMyHair · 25/01/2026 21:37

I haven't tried anything yet
Will google it.

Ah its make up, I really don't like wearing it. I got a green foundation thing that changes to your skin but i just hate waering it and it wears off my nose first

Are you are in the UK as you mentioned boots? You wrote lazer twice which might be a US spelling so not sure if you are in the UK or living elsewhere?

Do you drink or have other health reasons that might cause a red nose? Allergies? Adult acne? Hormonal issues? Is it rosacea? I was going suggest a green foundation but you said you've tried those. No help I'm afraid other than finding the reason for the redness in the first place.

Myoldbones · 26/01/2026 00:13

Azelaic acid really helps my redness, I buy the cream but need a high strength. I started on 15% and moved up to 20% after about 5 months.

MarxistMags · 26/01/2026 00:21

I'd try Rest and Reset cream by Simple. It's not expensive and helped me with the dark spots on my face.
Worth a try.

BizzyLizzyandLittleMo · 26/01/2026 00:35

Try Soolantra cream - if you’re in the uk it’s available on prescription (first line treatment locally in many places now). It’s for Rosacea which often causes a red nose

Beekman · 26/01/2026 01:36

Is it a fungal thing? My husband gets this, it is worse in the winter. He uses a prescription cream called ketoconazole to keep it under control. Can you see a dermatologist?

minnowonthesay · 26/01/2026 04:15

Estee Lauder Double Wear will cover it and last until you take it off - you can get colour matched and a free mini bottle at most counters. I know you’re not keen on make up, but I wonder if it would help by being a physical barrier against the elements? Worth a try for free!

CakeInMyHair · 26/01/2026 10:37

I'm in the UK.

I know the GP wouldn't be interested, purley cosmetic and I don't have the money tongo private.

Will google the creams suggested

Buy a cleanser with azaelic acid.
Use a green based concealer, I strongly recommend Erborian CC Red Correct, and use a setting spray over the top.
You may need to reapply through out the day.

ChapmanFarm · 26/01/2026 10:45

I know you don't like makeup but have you tried a mineral foundation?

It's all I can wear. It is very light and just requires a very quick brush on but I find it covers redness better than anything heavy.

Might be worth seeing if you can try a sample somewhere.

anon2022anon · 26/01/2026 10:53

If it's Rosacea, then dermatica sorted me out. It's a prescription service, it's £25 a tube, which they automatically set up as monthly but you can delay manually- I go through a tube every 3-4 months, now that mine has eased.
If you google, there will be a code about to get your first tube for £3-5 or something like.

For covering up, I strongly recommend Erborian green correct. They do a tiny tube for about £15, or a big tube for £40, the big tube lasts me about a year of using at least 4 days a week. It's more like a tinted moisturiser than make up, and really helps mine look less glow in the dark red.

Hello. Can you be more specific on Dermatica? Which product of theirs do you use?

The rosacea prescription.
When you sign up, they ask you to describe what you are looking for help with, redness/ rosacea is one of the options.
The ingredients are Ivermectin, metronidazole and Niamicide. The two antibiotics in this are the main ingredients in 2 of the prescriptions offered by GPs (one being Soolantra), but I've never had them issued by a GP in a formula together.

Honestly I wouldn't write the GP off. I have a tendency to get perioral dermatitis which is basically just redness around the mouth, and they gave me a cream that deals with it.

CakeInMyHair · 26/01/2026 12:00

Make up does not stay. Ive tried ao many. Concealers, powders, setting spray. Even going to boots to get help and ahe did my nose and said 'oh its coming off' (with the sponge)

I went to the GP a few weeks ago for exactly the same thing. No issues at all, she prescribed a cream called Rosex without hesitation. She said ‘it’s rosacea, probably hormonal because you’re 45. Apply this cream once a day for four months’.

In fairness I went because I was worried some red marks on my nose were cancerous but she dismissed that.

Haven’t seen an improvement yet but it’s only been a few weeks.

Then every day I wear Rosalique on my nose and then Este Lauder Double Wear foundation. It completely covers it. No way would go out without make-up. I’d look like Rudolph.

Q2C4 · 26/01/2026 12:10

I could have written this! I have rosacea - the pustular type. If you makes you feel any better I am halfway through a course of VBeam laser treatment and it’s done nothing for me at all so far (if anything it makes my skin flare up for a week afterwards). The clinic said noses are notoriously vascular.

I have tried soolantra (on prescription) - that didn’t work either. I haven’t tried Rosalique, azaelic acid or Dermatica - might try them if the laser doesn’t pull its finger out.

Interesting. I have pustular psoriasis on my hands/feet.
Wonder if its connected.
