How many packs per month?

I’ve recently received my delivery of ELEVATE collagen. I’m new to these supplements and just thought that (as it’s so expensive) one pack per month was the norm. I’ve used it for 7 days and the pack is almost empty. It says use 2 heaped tea spoon amounts, daily. At this rate, what I felt was an expensive experiment has almost tripled in price!

If you use this, how many standard packets do you use, per month?

Apparently all collagen you take is a con my father in law who has a doctorate on biochemistry told me it's a waste of money because even with hydrolyzed collagen the molecules are too large to absorb, just marketing BS

IrisPallida · 25/01/2026 23:53

I don't understand that. You are not absorbing large molecules, you are digesting them, just like any other protein. It would be broken down to amino acids in the gut and then absorbed.

Whether collagen has any actual advantage over any other form of protein however, is a different question...

I quite like Vital Proteins collagen because it is truly flavourless. I add it to my morning coffee. A big tub from Costco (in store, it isn't on their website at the moment) at 20g per day which is approx 2 tablespoons, lasts about a month and costs about £30. So rather more than twice the amount of collagen per dose than OP's brand. And it is pure collagen, no cocoa powder and whatevers added.

Now, I’m even more confused.

I received an email from Alex at Elavate insisting that the 20 serving (one serving daily) per bag of collagen equated to a full 9 months supply.

He also said the dosage for Chocolate flavour is 2 heaped teaspoons per serving whereas the Vanilla and the Plain, were only 1 heaped teaspoon per day but, even allowing for that, the amount the customer got was STILL 9 months product for each bag.

Alex said that the Chocolate Flavour appeared to be used up more quickly (it does, it’s TWICE the serving). However YOU HAVE PURCHASED AND RECEIVED 9 PACK … one pack per month!!!!

Am I being a bit stupid? There’s 30 days average in a month 🤔🤔🤔 I’ve got 20 days amount (for the month!).

Someone help me with the math, please?!

I make Alex’s 9 month supply of collagen last for 5 months and 20 days! 🤔😂🤦‍♀️😡

What size is your teaspoon and how high are you heaping it?

HarvestMouseandGoldenCups · 28/01/2026 10:47

Clearly you’re using too much.

But as a PP said it’s all bollocks anyway. The body breaks collagen down into amino acids that are then sent to do thousands of jobs (not just make more collagen in skin).

I’m not too worried about my skin tbh. My hair has recovered from post divorce stress and thinning in the last couple of years but… my aches/pains are horrendous. Some days I can barely move. My GP has me on various medications and though not overweight, I’ve lost weight recently to help my hip, shoulders, knees. I exercise 5/6 days a week. Walk every day with my dog, cycle etc so… pretty good. I thought I’d try ELAVATE because it says Hair, joints and skin. I just thought I’d give it a go to supplement my HRT.

@Comefromaway Well, that’s possible. My idea of a “heaped” teaspoon may be different from theirs 😊 I’ll try using less.

If it states the serving size in grams too then perhaps weigh it to make sure you aren’t using too much
