Does this coat look too big?

Just that really. Bought on Vinted and it is bigger than my usual size, but really liked it so thought I’d give it a try.
DD says it looks fine, DP says it looks too big. What say you?

It looks oversized which is fashionable at the moment, so that's why your DD approves!

Be warned that altering fake fur is a pig of a job - you have to cut away the backing and then re-attach the lining. By all means get your local alterations place to quote but don't be surprised if it costs as much as you paid for the coat in the first place.

It looks purposefully oversized, not like it just doesn’t fit you. I really like it, and the sleeves I think add to its sleazy indie charm.

Agree big works with fur. Also, you're only going to wear it when it's cold, so your hands will enjoy the longer sleeves. It's fab!

I think it works you just need to take up the sleeves.

I also have an issue with sleeves always being too long but I most definitely don’t look like a gorilla ! (To quote a pp…)

It's nice and I think you should keep it. As has been said, oversized is very on trend and you can wear layers under it. I wouldn't mind the long sleeves at all; I'm tall with long arms so they are the holy grail for me!

I’d also keep it, but I’d take the sleeves up, simply as them being so long is what makes it look too big rather than trendily over sized,

This is the coat on the model. It does seem quite boxy, but there’s no getting away from the fact I would have been better to get a 12.

It looks good oversized. The long sleeved wouldn’t bother me. I also like it with the loose skirt, I think oversized all over looks cool.

I think with jeans it possibly looks less enormous..?

Shorten the sleeves, the rest looks oversized but ok, but the sleeves make it look like you're a child wearing mum's coat.

Too big and too ursine.

If you want to do a quick and easy (and cheap) job on making the sleeves a smidge shorter, then just put a few stitches in either side of arm on the outside and on the lining to see half inch 'pleats' in (this is easier in my head than describing). Do it above and below the elbow. Won't show, will 'ruffle' them a bit and make them shorter - just balance it on lining, so it doesn't droop and show.

Easy to try and see if you prefer it, can be undone just as easily if you don't.

Coat looks great, sleeves are a bit long but that's fine on a winter coat.
