I can't put up with my hair a moment longer, it is disgusting!! It's dry and brittle, I have an itchy scalp that's driving me nuts, and I'm shedding hard. I've tried seaweed shampoo but don't get on with it at all. My shampoo must be silicone and sulphate free.

God I miss the old days when my hair was nice and I just took it for granted!!

Please recommend me some options! TIA!

Have you tried Faith in Nature? I have the lavender one, it’s lovely.

If you have an itchy scalp you could try a medicated shampoo.

Neutrogena, Nizoral etc.

I noticed that Eucerin have a shampoo when I was browsing the hair section earlier, perhaps try that until your scalp calms down or something similar?

I think it's sulphate and silicone free, will double check

EDIT sorry, it has SMS in.

I was also coming to say lavender Faith in Nature. They do a range of conditioners, I switch between them, plus I use argon oil leave in conditioner.

I alternate between Drunk Elephant glossing shampoo and Mas du Roseau solid shampoo for dry hair.

Head and Shoulders Bare. I get it on Amazon as I need sulfate, silicone and salt free but it sorted out my itchy scalp very quickly. It's now my standard shampoo.

The only two shampoos that dealt with my itchy, flaky scalp are Neutrogena T gel (but it strips my hair) and Vichy Dercos.

I then use a really nice conditioner, currently Aveeno oat milk scalp soothing

What you are supposed to do is to use your shampoo to treat your scalp and then use a conditioner to address the condition of your hair.

Comefromaway · 22/01/2026 13:05

The Vichy Dercos sensitive shampoo is sulfate free.

johnworf · 22/01/2026 16:54

Aveeno clarify and shine shampoo plus faith in nature lavender conditioner. Total winner for me.

HootyMcB00b · 22/01/2026 17:00

Faith in Nature shampoos contain sulphates.

Aussie Oh My Gloss has been great for me. Sulphate-free and manages to clean my oily scalp without drying out my hair.

Barrellturn · 22/01/2026 17:02

I would use a good clarifying shampoo first. Itching could be shampoo build up.

OverlyFragrant · 01/03/2026 14:01

I have used faith in nature, helped my itchy scalp somewhat but I found it didn't really cut through the scalp buildup I get.
I then bought a salicylic acid and teatree shampoo which is fantastic for my oily scalp and build up but left my hair feeling a bit dry at the roots amzn.eu/d/08Z314ms

I wanted to give seaweed shampoo a go, saw the reviews for the Cornish stuff on here, and thought it was too expensive to just give a go and it didn't work, so bought this stuff on amazon. And honestly, its amazing. My thinning, curly hair is ridiculously soft using it. I can't recommend it enough https://amzn.eu/d/06K2bqb0

I use Cantu on my slightly wavy hair. It’s sulfate and silicone free. Very nice formulas and not very expensive
