VB eyeliner, panda eyes!

I had the olive eyeliner as a Xmas present. Very excited to use it. Never spend much on eye pencils. What a let down !
It’s more blue than green for a start. Still I quite liked it. I drew a very thin line under my eyes, not from the inner corner just halfway along to my outer eye. Fine.
Happened to look in the mirror half an hour later and it’s now all the way across my under eyes but not in a thin line. It’s smudged and looks like panda eyes.

I thought maybe I’ve rubbed my eyes unconsciously so gave it the benefit of the doubt.
No, this happens every time so I’ve given up on it. No other eye pencil I use does it to this extent. I’m so disappointed.
Anyone else had this?

I find the metallic VB ones don’t budge once set but the dark brown non-metallic one I had was a smudgy disaster. Did you blend?

lingmerth · 20/01/2026 11:39

Interesting. Took me a couple of times to realise there was something to blend with!

It doesn’t seem to make a difference whether I do or don’t . Admittedly today I deliberately didn’t blend to see what would happen. Within 10 minutes panda eyes had appeared!

I have the olive one and don’t find it blue at all?

I really like the VB eye liners and find that they’re soft but really last once they’ve been applied. I’ve never used them under my eyes though, just on my lids.

Bad day for VB already, don’t stick the boot in further.

(but actually, thanks because I have always been interested in these and I have quite oily skin and lots of products do go a bit panda eyes on me. So thanks for saving me the £ because they’re quite expensive).

PuppyMonkey · 20/01/2026 12:13

I’ve got a brown one and you do have to blend and smudge it in with the little smudging tool but then it’s good to go all day for me.

TeeBee · 20/01/2026 12:15

Hmm, I love these eyeliners. The one of only a few that actually work on my eyes. I also have the olive one and don't find it blue either. Have you tried applying less but using the smudger? Mine only 'bleed' when I apply a lot.

BertieWoostersChaps · 20/01/2026 12:26

I really like them - poor old VB getting hard time today.

lindyloo57 · 20/01/2026 13:01

I have oily skin, the only one that doesn't smudge on me is the hourglass one,

StarCourt · 20/01/2026 13:06

I have the same one and love it, I don’t find it blue and it doesn’t smudge on my oily lids

Bimblesalong · 20/01/2026 13:08

I absolutely love mine and wouldn't use anything else. I use a facial oil before applying makeup as my skin is dry - not sure whether it then is classed as oily or not!

Bananasforbreakfast · 20/01/2026 13:08

It isn’t at all blue - any chance you could have received a fake?

lingmerth · 20/01/2026 22:49

Thanks for all the replies. I’ve attached photos of the pencil to make sure it’s the same one you’re talking about.
It’s definitely Bluey grey rather than green on my eyes.
Bad Timing posting today eh!
I will try smudging it to see if that helps. I couldn’t afford to buy it so put it on my Xmas list as I’d heard such good things, especially the fact that once applied it didn’t move.
