Do I need one and if so any recommendations and how often and for how long do you need to use it? Also will it work if you have red veins or make them worse?

It’s a given that red light is beneficial for your skin. There is a lot of research into the subject.

In terms of at home devices not all are effective, the cheap ones are next to useless.

You would use it for 10-20 mins 3-5 times per week. You would need to be consistent and any benefits might take time to be apparent, or might not be obvious (eg how to you evaluate ‘anti ageing’?)

There is plenty of information on the net about red light masks, just consider the source. A lot are paid for endorsement.

Usage time depends on the mask. I have the CurrentBody one (plus the chest/neck version) and it only has one program, which runs for 10 minutes. I like the simplicty of not having to choose from an array of programs but some people might prefer choice. I use it five times per week (recommended usage is 3-5 times per week). Here's what I've said on two recent threads about it (and no, I don't work for them, I'm just genuinely amazed by the results!):

If you have the budget then I would strongly recommend an LED face mask. I bought the CurrentBody one, along with their neck/chest mask and there's a noticable difference in just two weeks. I've been taking pictures so it's definitely real and not wishful thinking! My skin looks brighter and clearer, my neck/jawline is a little firmer, and the lines between my eyes (the elevenses) are less prominent. I take the pictures in a morning, after showering but before using any skincare so that there's no bias introduced from what skincare I'm using.
I'm honestly gobsmacked at the difference in such a short time. They say that you should see a difference at the 6-8 week mark so I really wasn't expecting much at this early stage. I do use it religiously five times per week.

Thanks both. They do sound good I am quite tempted now. I know they're pricey though.
