Help with wedding dress - guest

I’m looking for a wedding guest outfit for a wedding in September.

I’m 35, petite - 5ft but I can get the right dress taken up. It’s a wedding in a Manor House. I tend to run cold so don’t want anything that I’ll freeze in. I am relatively slim but I just don’t know what’s appropriate. My culture is Asian and so very different. When you look online some will tell you it’s ok to wear backless long maxi type things but others will say more midi dresses are appropriate.

So if you were going to a wedding in September what would you wear? Inspire me please!

I am 5 ft and I always wear wide evening trousers with a fancy top.

Is there a dress code on the invitation?
Is it ceremony + reception that you are invited to ( + what time is the ceremony?)

Midi or maxi is fine. Backless also fine but you will want a jacket for warmth!

It’s so difficult to advise when culturally there can be such different vibes. British weddings seem much more low key than say Irish, here it’s v much evening wear, black tie and cocktail dresses, full glam hair and makeup. The dresses suggested above would look out of place and are much more dinner and drinks in the pub to me. I had 6 weddings last year and wore dresses from Zara reformation and lavish Alice, in September I wore a fur jacket over a chocolate silk slip dress, cold church but well heated castle for dinner and dancing

British weddings have traditionally always been much more daytime than evening (legally not allowed to have a ceremony in the dark I think) and the classic outfit would be a floral or brightly coloured day dress or sometimes separates, more formal than average. But that is changing, so it depends on the time and dress code of the ceremony. If it’s evening it will probably specify ‘black tie’.

No dress code. I’m invited to the ceremony and the evening bit. 1pm ceremony. I love the idea of something backless but wasn’t sure if that would be too much skin on show. I like this but think maybe too much for daytime ceremony

I need petite sizing too and love Phase Eight petite. I would love a wedding invite to give me an excuse to buy one of their lovely dresses or jumpsuits! Also like the accessories they have to coordinate.

The jumpsuits are lovely; I’ve had my eye on a gorgeous navy and ivory one for years but I can’t justify it!
I love this which may suit your colouring, I can’t wear grey as I’m very pale with fair hair and it washes me out, but it’s in the sale atm.

Very stylish! Will it show too much leg when you sit down? I love the back too.

What happens between the ceremony and the evening bit?
